"One Should Be Kinder Than Needed"
I loved the beautiful, honest, truthful storytelling. I felt the character's thoughts and actions were well developed as children on the cusp of adulthood.
The standing ovations---at Oliva's play and at August's graduation.
Yes. The only problem with the narration was the way August's character was voiced. He sounded much younger than he was. Overall, the narration was very good!
Yes, I laughed and I cried. I finished the book yesterday, and I am still emotionally engaged with it!
A great read, for adults and young adults. This book has encouraged me to live my life with more kindness.
"So crazy.....can't believe it's a memoir!"
Absolutley, and I already have (friend really enjoyed the audiobook also)! The story is engaging, engrossing, funny, sad, heartbreaking, and encouraging, and I just wanted to keep listening to hear what happened next!
How the author would pick herself up after every disappoint, and tackle life again.
She wrote the book, and she reads it perfectly. She adds humor when need, sadness when needed......she sets the tone perfectly.
Yes...I laughed! A lot. Sometimes in shock at what the family went through, sometimes at the funny situations Jeannette found herself in.
This is a great read, I can't imagine anyone who wouldn't enjoy it.
