"Good story and narration"
Yes. In fact that is why I decided to write this review. The story is enjoyable but predictable. If I was reading this book I would probably have skimmed it a lot, however by listening to it I was able to relax and just let the story unfold. I enjoyed the narrator which is why I enjoyed the book. If the narrator was bad I don't think I would have finished the book.
I like the wide variety of characters.
I think she got Aurelie's voice perfect. Or as I would image it. She talked softly like a grown woman. Not like in a previous book I reviewed where the narrator whisered like a little girl. For me, I think she got all the voices right.
I did listen to it all in one sitting (day). I download my books onto a kindle (with a cover for protection) and wear a pouch where I can put it in and walk around doing things as I am listening. If I am wearing ear phones no one can hear it but me.
For me, this is a book that the narrator makes or breaks it. Like a lot of books. I really wish those that produce these audio books would pay attention to listener feedback. I am beginning to think they don't care. Which leaves me extremely dissatisfied with a lot of my favorite books that have been produced recently. And I really like this style of story telling.
"I was bored out of my mind!"
I like this author but this book was so boring. Here is my summary of the book: he is a stick up his butt duke. Don't worry if you forget that he is a duke because he will remind you every page of the book! And she is a joyful ( Joyous) witch. Again, don't worry if you have the brain of a flea because he will constantly remind you. And that he is A DUKE! Don't want you to forget that.
The narrator was fine, I had no problem there at all. It is the storyline that killed the book.
I have put this book down over a hundred times and keep picking it up again thinking this is Jill Barnett it has to get better, but no. I can't take anymore. I am just going to assume he gets joyful and Joyous and stop. I think I will try something funner like getting a tooth pulled or something.
"Cute book"
I am happy to see Julie Garwood's older books being released in audio form. I have been disappointed in the narrator that has been chosen but she seems to be improving. I hated this narrator in The Secret and still want a do over on that book but she was okay in this book. At least she is not Whispering but it still seems like she is telling it like a bed time story. I see that she is doing the other JG books and I just hope she get better. These Books are cute and funny that I recommend to anyone.
"This is now one of my Favorite books."
I don't know what it is about this book but I love it. I am listening to it again for the 3rd time in a row. I like the narrator, she is perfect for this book. I really like the main couple plus all the supporting characters. She has a nice variety of characters. One guy in his 80s offers her a color tv plus always leaving the toilet seat down if she would have him. Like I said, entertaining. I am a huge of Janet Evanovich's Stephaine Plum series and this book reminds me of her writing a lot.
I highly recommend this book. I just wish there were more in the series besides these 2.
"Wonderful story"
I picked this book up in an audible sale. At first I was surprised to see that it was written in the 50's. so wondered if I would like it at all but went ahead and gave it a try since I like the time period so well. I am thrilled I did. It sure doesn't read like someone wrote it in the 50's. It reads like a Elizabeth Chadwick novel, who is one of my favorite writers. Even though this is a long listen it held my interest from beginning to end. I encourage anyone to try this book. This book reminds me a lot of William Marshall's trilogy by Elizabeth Chadwick.
"Truly Enjoyable Listen"
I have found that this book to be such a relaxing listen. The storyline is cute and the narrator is great. I find I smile a lot while listening to it.
"Entertaining read."
Let me start by saying that I don't usually read divorce books of any kind. I don't care for them. That is what country music is for...the done somebody wrong songs. But when I saw this book in one of audible sales I thought I would give it a try because of the author. I am so glad I did. Entertaining is the word I would use in describing the book. I love books with a lot of humor and this one had it. The narrator was perfect for this book so that really helped. I have learned that one narrator is great in one book and lousy at another. It's personal preference I guess. Anyway, right from the beginning I was sucked into the book. I didn't switch to another book and then go back like I tend to do if the book drags or the narrator gets on my nerves. I Listened to it from beginning to end and am sorry it ended. Will I re listen to it? Definitely. I like this author and will see what other books she has on audible.
Recently I have started doing reviews. I didn't do them before because I don't want to lead someone wrong but I use the reviews in making my decisions in buying books so I decided to throw my voice in. I like the Stephanie Plum series, Julie Garwood, JD Robb, Johanna Lindsey, Catherine Coulter, Stephanie Lauren's and Suzanne Brockmann. This is a short list of my likes but will give the reader a ideal if they will like what I like. Happy listening.
"Wow. Another hit for J.D. Robb"
I loved the entire book from beginning to end. Her writing style is perfect. It's like taking a very interesting but relaxing walk the way she leads you thur the storyline. Simply amazing. I just got done listening to it and am about to re listen to it. What a book. The narrator is perfect. The characters are perfect. I love how she weaves Roark into Eve's investigations. I am a huge fan of Nora Robert's romances but I think I like her "In Death" series so much more better. Rarely to I listen to a book straight from beginning to end but when I start one of these books I can't put it down. I have to know the conclusion. I hate to go to bed until it is done. A lot of romance writers have crossed over but she is the only one in my opinion that writes suspense better than she writes romance. I hope this review makes sense. I don't write many reviews because I tend to ramble however this book was just so interesting. I am all over the place with my emotions right now. I think I will go get another book in this series so it can download while I start listening to this book again.I hope anyone who buys this book off of my recommendation likes it as much as I did.
All of her books that I have listened to or read are just as good as this one. I do prefer to listen to them because the narrator is perfect for her books.I also like a lot of Suzanne Brockmann's books.
Everything. She is perfect for this series. JD Robb needs to have her under contract for every book she writes in this series. I have listened to a lot of books in this series and the voices become like family. I can picture them in my mind as she tells the story. It becomes a relaxing read. I have had narrators ruin my favorite books for me but not Ms. Ericksen. I will go see what other books she does, I really like her work and if you read my reviews you will see that for me the narrators can really break a review.
The entire book. It just carries you along.
I think I have said it all in my review. Well here's a nudge for the writers. When you get a narrator that works with the buyers stick with it. I love listening to books that have continuing characters that have the same voice as the previous books. Just a thought.
"Why does the narrator whisper?"
The narrator! She talks so softly that you feel like she is whispering so no one will hear her. And the voices. Judith sounds like a little girl not a full grown women. It is disturbing to say the least.
Being that The Secret has always been one of my favorite books it is hard to pick one memorable moments.
I would really rather not.
Yes, try to get past the narrator because the story is well worth the listen.
"Wonderful story and great narration."
This is one of my favorite books and have read it countless times. I was thrilled to see it offered on audible. I have to say it was a comfortable listen , I liked listening to the book and will do so many more times. The narrator was great.
I get bored with books easy and don't finish half do what I start but this book is non stop action and so it keeps me engaged in the story. If you are like me and like Johanna Lindsey and Julie Garwood you should like this book also.
Royal Passion. This it the h/h son's story and is even better than Royal Seduction. The H/h show up a lot in Royal Passion and you find out what happened to everyone in Royal Seduction.
I would also recommend Dream of Me by Josie Litton.
I loved Melissa Frank's performance. She is a great narrator and is now one of my favorites. I just relaxed and let her lead me though the story. That is unusual for me but one I loved.
There was a death in the book that really made me sad to see.
I really don't do reviews because I am lousy at them. I figure the book already has a description so I don't like to repeat that. But if I really like a book and like the narrator like this book I want to recommend it. The narrator really made this book for me, and it was already one of my favorites.
