Deftly mixing humor and pathos, Sarah Dunn's Secrets to Happiness delivers an entertaining story of professional women living the city life. It has been likened to a hybrid of Candace Bushnell, Edith Wharton, and Jane Austen, and Kirkus Reviews calls it a "smart chick-lit tale with dark undertones." Recently divorced Holly is intelligent and spunky - and her priceless ruminations on love, life, and happiness are not to be missed.

Maureen McDaniel says: "Nice NY observations, good gym listen"
    "Loved it"
    Overall

Loved this book. Witty and current. Could identify with so much of it.

It is Nick and Amy Dunne's fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick's clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn't doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media - as well as Amy's fiercely doting parents - the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he's definitely bitter - but is he really a killer?

What made the experience of listening to Gone Girl the most enjoyable?

Great narration, great mystery, kept my interest.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Gone Girl?

When you realized what was really happening.

What does Julia Whelan and Kirby Heyborne bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Expressions. Plus, I can "read" while I do other things. I love being read to--it is about the story, not about developing my reading skills.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Just when you think you could hate him...

    Any additional comments?

A little disappointed in how it ended.

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

Jan says: "What a great surprise!"

Welcome to the fabled Gold Coast, that stretch on the North Shore of Long Island that once held the greatest concentration of wealth and power in America. Here two men are destined for an explosive collision: John Sutter, Wall Street lawyer, holding fast to a fading aristocratic legacy; and Frank Bellarosa, the Mafia don who seizes his piece of the staid and unprepared Gold Coast like a latter-day barbarian chief and draws Sutter and his regally beautiful wife, Susan, into his violent world.

    Jack C says: "Unexpectedly Great!"

When John Sutter's aristocratic wife killed her mafia don lover, John left America and set out in his sailboat on a three-year journey around the world, eventually settling in London. Now, 10 years later, he has come home to the Gold Coast, that stretch of land on the North Shore of Long Island that once held the greatest concentration of wealth and power in America, to attend the imminent funeral of an old family servant.

James B says: "Brilliant Conclusion to Gold Coast"
"Good, but not as good as Gold Coast"
    Overall

The main character is witty and enjoyed his perspective on things. The narrator is great. This was good, but not quite as good as Gold Coast and it spent a lot of time reviewing Gold Coast facts for those who hadn't read it, I guess.
