Solid story that ranks in the top 40% of the 100's of books I have listened to.
I have not listened to Steve West before but he did a great job.
Peregrine of course was the best character.
For the folks at Audible, if you offer a great price for "the first book of a series" make sure you have the rest of the books.
The reader of this book was one of the weakest of the 200+ books I have listened to. Add to that a confusing start to the story...jumping all over the place but the author got it together about half way through and ended strong. Looking forward to the next in the series and hope a new narrator is in the offing.
I loved the imagination of the author. She build the characters well. But, if a book is a picture into the author's soul...oh is there some darkness there. I had to slog through the pages of depression but it was worth it. Take a look. There are more books coming in this series.
A story that keeps you on the edge of your seat and opens your mind to technology of the future.
Love the scene when our hero with cell phone in hand was standing on the mountain waiting for the evil space ship to blast him to bits.
Yes, this is a book that you are will to give up some sleep to hear it all.
Loved the author's look on what freedom means and how much freedom people in the United States are will to give up. A fun book that makes you think.
I am sad the I finished one of the best series I have listened to...Baroque Society...but what a great ride! I rank it with Steig Larsson's, Dragon Tattoo series, the Uplift War series by David Brin, the Aubrey/Maturn series by Patrick o'Brian, and the Black Tower Series, by Stephen King.
I cannot recommend it highly enough.
