I really liked Discovery of Witches and waited impatiently for the sequel......having that said...
Sheesh! I was bored ! This was some kind of punishment Deborah Harkness thought her newly acquired readers needed, you think?
The time traveling thing for one, she can time travel at will when she's a toddler but now it's this complicated song and dance thing? Really?
You find contradictions and inconsistencies about Diana's magic AND thoughts, this also applies to Mathew's character .
Diana remains relatively incompetent and reckless and Matthew continues to be controlling and possessive. They were playing house in Elizabethan times! Very little time and even less attention was given to the threats of the present time.
I have so many problems with this book that I honestly don't feel like talking or writing about them anymore..
Two stars, after all I guess I will read the third installment in the All Souls Trilogy because I am curious (and hopeful?) about Diana and Mathew's story.
This book was better than the last one......at least, the second part was.
First half of the book.......Three stars.
Second half of the book...Four and a half stars (getting to five there).
The issues that I had with Cinder, were there. For example, the simplistic and not very bright characters. Don't misunderstand me! They're still likeable and I thought Cinder was much better this time around , Scarlet was a strong character but a bit predictable.
I did enjoy the book and was entertained by it, so I'll wait for the next one. ;)
Not as good as Variant, a bit of a disappointment but still entertaining.
It was fast paced and more action packed than Variant but with exasperating results.
The characters felt like they were NOT the brightest crayons in the box, all of them, the humans, the androids.... even *spoiler alert* the alien. (Whaat?!? ,,,,,yep.). The ending felt rushed. like RW (or the publisher) needed a number of pages done and when he reached that number, that was it.
This one was much , much better than River Marked.
It is not every time you can safely say "This book was worth the wait". Lots of action, a bit of humour and all the familiar characters you love to hear from.
Looking forward to Mercy and Adam's next adventure.
This book was a nice surprise. It was unexpected and refreshing!
It was rather late when I began the sample from Kindle. By the time I was done with it, I had to buy the book that instant. No choice! LOL! I was up reading it until 4 AM....still felt rather short, I wanted more! This was a very good read. I couldn't put it down!
Let's talk about Penryn...this is a heroine that I like. And I rarely do like the story's heroine, I might like the book and/or love the series, but I always find that the female character lacks on this or that department. In my opinion Penryn is a strong character and a likable one.
The world Susan Ee created is compelling, her characters are sympathetic and real. I fear I am not doing this book justice, but please pick it up and see for yourself. I'm sure you will enjoy every action packed page as I did. This was one of those books that you actually feel a loss when it ends. I'm already looking forward to the next book.
I can see a re-read in the near future..
Read from December 15, 2012 to March 04, 2013
I don't know if I'm going to finish this one.
It is depressing, boring and the writing is juvenile. The female lead character is kind of stupid and childish. All the hype about this, was only that, hype.
Update. March 4th 2013
I finally finished the thing.......talking about the agenda behind the Agenda.....Aghhh.
Only to add that I have never wanted to actually hit a female character since Anna Steele......ugh. An emotionally retarded eleven year old would have been better.
The dystopian setting was so badly done, it had contradictions and was full of holes.
Don't waste your precious time (and credit) with this, it was torture.
I love this series and its characters!
It was a bit predictable at times but still, truly enjoyable.
Ms Ericksen was NOT in top form, sorry to say.
All in all, a good read (listen). Looking forward to the next one.
Kevin Hearne.....an Iron Druid short story, you're sold. Right? ;)
Luke Daniels makes the audio version a delightful addition to your collection.
Plus, we get to see a surprising side to The Morrigan. And of course, it is Kevin's way to set the pace for the next book .
This is a very good short story and you will need to read it as a bridge to the 12 year jump between "Tricked' and 'Trapped'.
This is fresh and intelligent writing.
I was reluctant to begin reading this book, I was a bit disappointed with Forever...
but my reaction to this one was/is 'If I have to wait a year for the next book, I see a re-read (at least one) in the future.
At first, I felt I could not connect with all the characters. This is Maggie's different approach to a story (I'll have to read her other material to fair.) . But then, you feel that it is just the right way to get there. Like having a partly view of the big picture from book one. Cool. I am so ready for book two.
The narration was very good. Will Patton was exceptional! I had my doubts when I bought it. I do NOT regret spending my credit at all. Great work , Five Stars !
I love this series and I loved Tricked.
This book is as good as KH first of the series (Hounded). It is very well written and lots of fun. It is always good when while reading, you laugh out loud.
This is an author that I am impressed with. If you like Jim Butcher, you should like Kevin Hearne.
Luke Daniels does an good job just as he has done on the last 3 books.
