Very with the times espionage tale, very believable IMHO, not many far fetched moments in this book. The first book of his I've found and was a pleasant surprise, wasn't expecting too much going into it. Highly recommend for contemporary espionage fans.
For me it started rather confusingly and I thought I was getting it or misssing something. Maybe it was just me or I wasn't very attentive when I started it. It really gets going and is a good story that kept intrigued and making use of google maps to get my bearings.
Was expecting more it was alright but not great......love the genre and I'm somewhat fussy though.....
More Department Q, full of flawed characters like myself. Very interesting combination of mystery/thriller with elements humor. I refer to the series as a darker Danish Barney Miller. Looking forward to the next installment from Adler Olsen.
Set in Bucharest to start, luv the settings used in these stories. Can't wait to wade into the rest of this series.
Couldn't get into it like previous editions.... OK but not great. Preferred previous narrator.
Entertaining but not really my thing, a rainy day book maybe when between books.
Wasn't sure how JK would handle a murder mystery, for me it was really good, she can transcend to this genre well. I too am looking forward to this becoming a series and the progression of the main character Comorant Strike. Also the images of London which so far the story is based in. A good listen recommend to mystery lovers.
Concentrates on life in the Gulag and Solzhenitsyns harrowing experiences and others around him. This volume reads more like a novel IMHO, and is great first person account of the horrors of the Terror and life in the Gulag, from a 20th century icon. Highly recommend for anyone with interest in the Soviet era of Russian history.
A captivating engrossing tale I finished in record time because I couldn't stop listening. Felt like I was in the story watching, very well written about a time that is hard to comprehend in my mind. Highly recommend to anyone from High School age and upward.
Spooky but compelling, Harry Hole is my favorite flawed protagonist in recent memory. This series lead me in to the entire Scandavian Crime Genre and must say this series is at the top of the list for me.
