Whether you agree or disagree with her views/actions on how to educate children, I find the book very entertaining. It has not only stirred up a lot of discussions, it has certainly made me reflect on what my belief is and what my husband thinks about this topic since we don't have kids yet. I truly respect Amy Chua as a mother even though I don't think I can do what she's done to/for her kids. I don't think I have what it takes to be a tiger mom, but on the other hand, it may really take that much of discipline to train and refine one's skill in music or a lot of other fields. At the end of the day, not all of us is music prodigy.


In short, if you don't start the book judgmental, it's a well-written, well-narrated book that shows a very interesting/different perspective on culture and child's education.

I was completely captivated after listening for about 5 minutes. I had no idea what I got myself into, but wow, this really blew my mind. I was crying unstoppingly on a metro, but I couldn't stop listening! That's how good it was. Even though the protagonists are teenagers, they are stronger and more mature than anyone. I actually used Whispersync, so I could read and listen to the book interchangably. I found myself gravitating toward the audible book, because the narrator did such a fantastic job portraying the tones and accents. It's incredible.

The author has spent 7 years doing research on this topic and it's so thought-provoking and fascinating that leaves me crave for more. 1/3 to 1/2 of the population is introverts and we all need to learn how to better leverage their talent. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and the reader. I'd strongly recommend it!

I enjoyed the book from start to finish. My husband was with me in the car the whole way and he was the one pleading to continue the book. I'd say this is one of the very few books that it's actually better to listen to than to read. Tina Fey did a fantastic job narrating, very natural, yet funny. It even includes a whole clip of TV audio that brought back so much memory. Very well done!

I enjoyed listening to this book- every minute of it. The narrator did an excellent job capturing the immigrant's Chin-english accent. The story itself is inspiring given that it's based on author's true experience. I am Asian, and I can grasp the subtle (or sometimes not so subtle) references to the Chinese culture. I usually got a kick out of it. I didn't want the book to finish; it was too good.

I knew nothing about racing car and I've never watched a car racing game, but I love this book. The truth is, the book has NOTHING to do with car racing, but it has everything to do with love, family and life. The book made me laugh and made me cry. It really gets you thinking, too. The narrator is great; Christopher Welch did an excellent job. I love the book and I would strongly recommend it to anyone and everyone.
