WTF? I feel like I am being punked by Audible. I have never noticed a narrator, and this is the second book in a row that has a bad/horrible narrator. I can't listen to this. ARGH! Got to call and get a refund. But so disappointed in Audible, they are destroying my favorite authors.
Can't get passed the narration
Anger and disappointment
Why oh why? Don't you have anyone listen to these books before putting them out?
I don't think she wrote about Haver's brushing her teeth or using the toilet, but every other act was well-documented. And just as you think you are done, it goes on... and on... and on...
And all the characters are extremely stupido.
No, I think I am done
huh? Probably most of them
Long and boring, with very stupid characters.
Nesbo is such a superb writing that even his worse is better than most people's best. That said, this novel was not my favorite. I think Nesbo should take a break from the Harry Hole series and write some more stand alone books. This novel was a bit chaotic and a bit too much. There were too many threads going at once, and there was an evil character, who was too evil and too omnipotent.
Some of the characters acted incredibly stupidly.
As a mother and a women some of the scenes were very painful.
The rape scenario was a bit much...
I love the Hole series, but this didn't hold together. I think that Hole himself is such a big character, that if he isn't anchoring the novel, there isn't enough to hold it together.
evil and chaos
I haven't finished it, and it's very well-written, but each hope seems to be crushed.... Over and over again.
Yes, and no. I kept wanting to go forward, because I want an okay ending
Karl is always my favorite
I realized that I dread having to listen it to the end. Since this is supposed to junk reading, I can't imagine why I am torturing myself. I hate the main character, and the creepy men lusting after her. I'm shocked that a mother could be thinking about anything but her daughter in this story. Sorry I can't imagine lusting after anyone, if my child were in danger. The story is confusing, which is okay, but I am not invested enough to want to figure it out. I think Deaver is going on my list of, wait for the reviews before investing a credit. Now I have to return it...
Better characters, better writing, and better plot... other than that it was a good book
I don't know, as I don't know the narrators' names, but January overacts the overwrought writing.
I feel like the author just got bored writing and stopped. This is my first and now my last Charles Todd book. He's a good writer, but no one should end a book the way he did. It really felt like it ended mid-thought. I've never read a book that ended this way. I wouldn't suggest this, unless you love Charles Todd.
Simon is a very good narrator.
bafflement, and disappointment.
Not worth the time.
This is the first time I have noticed the narration of any audible book to be distracting, and this one is horrible. I don't care about how the French is pronounced, but there is something very inappropriately sing-song about this narration. At first I thought the author might be reading the narration, but this is a professional? I think this is one I will have to return and buy the kindle version. Sadness. I am guessing the story is okay, thus the 3 stars, but don't get this in audible format.
Yes, she is a good writer
It's singsongy, fast, weird affect etc.
Anger, how to ruin a perfectly good story with bad narration
You have been warned.
The narrator is great! I love the setting.
My favorite character is the main character, because he seems like a normal person.
I don't know
Intrigue on the Isle of Man.
I was left wanting to read more from this author.
Not from Laukkanen, but I don't notice narrators unless they are very good or very bad.
It had to be very well written and plotted to pull this off. I didn't think either was the case.
None of it seemed very realistic, yet much of it was dreary.
I don't like giving away plot lines. I just am amazed that this book published in the first place.
I love Burke's writing and Patton's narration! Both are brilliant. But I enjoyed this book particularly. The plot was interesting, but what I like most are the descriptions and the settings. It's audible at it's best!
Yes and no. It was well plotted, but it wasn't a roller coaster ride.
Too many to name.
No, except maybe wishing that it wouldn't end.
