Holiday gatherings can be stressful times for families, and occasionally the conversation around the holiday table can get heated. Difficult Conversations shows you a way out of this dilemma; it teaches you how to handle even the toughest conversations more effectively and with less anxiety.

    "Excellent content, poor naration"
    Overall

The ideas presented and the examples given are very useful. But the naration, particularly by one of the authors, is aweful. His voice drives me crazy and at times is hard to hear. I would be able to concentrate much more on the content if it was done right. I'm a little more than halfway through and may actually have to stop. After listening to over a dozen books, I can honestly say that the naration on this one is significantly worse than anything I have heard. So 5 stars on content, 0 on naration.

  • Leadership and Self-Deception: Getting Out of the Box

Most personal and organizational problems are the result of a little-known problem called "self-deception". We deceive ourselves into thinking we're doing the right thing for the right reason, but people won't follow a leader whose motives are selfish. The tricky thing is, we don't know that our motivation is flawed.

The content here is a must for everyone. Among the best business/communication books I have heard/read. I am considering buying it for everyone in my organization. The narrator is fabulous and makes it a much better "listen" than "read" as he changes his voice to act out the various parts.

Is your company threatened by turf battles, shut out of key data sources by territorial lords, or ravaged by hundreds of micro-companies? If so, your organization may be suffering from a potentially crippling case of Fiefdom Syndrome.

"Powerful Concept, Repetitious and Poor Narrator"
    Overall

The point is clear. It is driven in over and over again - everything is a fiefdom of one variety or another. The concept is powerful, but the presentation is boring. The narrator has a unique voice - choppy, somewhat monotone, and makes listening tedious.
