  • Playing for Keeps

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 33 mins)
    • By R. L. Mathewson
    • Narrated By Fran Jewels
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Done with being the world's biggest pushover, Haley decides that things are going to change starting with the aggravating neighbor who has too much charm and not enough restraint. What she didn't expect was to be sucked into his world, but Haley has a game plan and she won't let herself forget just what the bad boy next door is capable of. The last thing Jason expected was for his little shy neighbor to go Rambo on him over some ruined flowers.

Jordy says: "What a fun sexy contemporary romance!"
    "It was OK."
What did you like best about Playing for Keeps? What did you like least?

The first half of the book definitely captured my attention. It was engaging and I looked forward to seeing the characters develop. I grew tired of the "grasshopper" comments, as I thought it sounded weird. And then the story just went downhill pretty fast and couldn't keep my attention.

Would you recommend Playing for Keeps to your friends? Why or why not?

I finished the book, so I can't say that I wouldn't recommend it. It was a sweet, innocent, romance book.

What about Fran Jewels’s performance did you like?

    Performance was really good.

Could you see Playing for Keeps being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No. There isn't enough of a deep story line.

  • Beautiful Player

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 20 mins)
    • By Christina Lauren
    • Narrated By Grace Grant, Sebastian York
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

When Hanna Bergstrom receives a lecture from her overprotective brother about neglecting her social life and burying herself in grad school, she's determined to tackle his implied assignment: get out, make friends, start dating. And who better to turn her into the sultry siren every man wants than her brother's gorgeous best friend, Will Sumner, venture capitalist and unapologetic playboy?

Katheryne says: "5 Smoking Hot Stars!"
"Your brothers BFF - what a girl dreams of..."
Would you listen to Beautiful Player again? Why?

Yes. I LOVE Sebastian York as the narrator, first and foremost. The story was easy to read, and realistic, yet an element of dreaminess. I truly found that I liked both characters and couldn't stop reading.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the storyline. Girl has lussted after her bothers BFF her entire life and now has a chance to spend time with him as an adult. She's comfortable around him, and the story felt like two lifelong friends falling in love and they didn't want to believe it. It really captured my attention and I felt like I was there with the characters.

What does Grace Grant and Sebastian York bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I thought Grace did a great job of narrating for Hanna. She sounds age appropriate and portrayed the character well. Sebastian York - well, he's dreamy and I love every book he's narrated. I will chose a book BECAUSE of Sebastian York.

If you could rename Beautiful Player, what would you call it?

    I like the current name.

  • Come Away with Me

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 5 mins)
    • By Kristen Proby
    • Narrated By Jennifer Mack
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Being confronted on the beach by a sexy stranger wasn't part of Natalie Conner's plans for a peaceful morning taking photos. And why on earth would he think she's taking pictures of him, anyway? Who is he? One thing’s for sure, he’s hot, and incredibly romantic, feeding Natalie’s wounded soul.

cmsande says: "3 out of 5 cheesetastic stars, baby"
    "Juvenile story line"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Potentially, a different narrator might have made the book more enjoyable. She sounded like she was 15, which was hard to get past. More character development and a more realistic beginning - their relationship moved so fast that it was hard to not roll my eyes at the rest of the book.

What was most disappointing about Kristen Proby’s story?

The characters relationship moved way to fast to be realistic at all. The female character, Natalie, had no ounce of self-respect or dignity - she was in bed with Luke on day 2 of their relationship. It is nice to like each character first and learn about them before they jump in the sack. Also, the number of sex scenes in a book doesn't make it better, and I feel like this author tried to work in as many sex scenes as possible.

Would you be willing to try another one of Jennifer Mack’s performances?

Never. Out of all the audible books I've read, she was probably the worst narrator for this genre of book. She needs to consider reading young adult books, not contemporary or erotic books.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Total disappointment. I chose this book because it was part of a series and I could look forward to the next book. I will not purchase the remaining books in the series now.
