  • Bloodsucking Fiends: A Love Story

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 22 mins)
    • By Christopher Moore
    • Narrated By Susan Bennett

A striking red-head, 20-something Jody is attacked and transformed into a vampire while walking home one night in downtown San Francisco. Befriending 19-year-old Tommy, Jody tries to understand her new undead life, but trouble finds her when the cops start suspecting Tommy of being a local bloodsucking serial killer.

    SHEILA says: "Bloodsucking FUN!"
    "This is a great book"

I loved this book. Who would have thought that vampires could be so funny; Moore's use of dark humor is genius. I had to turn the book off while flying last because I could not stop laughing out loud. The Narrator Susan Bennett an incredible, she brought Jodi and Tommy to "life". Buy this, you will not be disappointed.

  • At Home: A Short History of Private Life

    • UNABRIDGED (16 hrs and 38 mins)
    • By Bill Bryson
    • Narrated By Bill Bryson
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Bill Bryson and his family live in a Victorian parsonage in a part of England where nothing of any great significance has happened since the Romans decamped. Yet one day, he began to consider how very little he knew about the ordinary things of life as he found it in that comfortable home. To remedy this, he formed the idea of journeying about his house from room to room to “write a history of the world without leaving home.”

    Tina says: "Another wonderful Bryson"
    "Wonderful surprise"

Bill Bryson wrote a wonderful history of his home. I now look at my old farmhouse with curious eyes; and what a pleasant surprise to learn the origins of popular sayings such as "the lime light" and"boardroom". I have enjoyed many of Bill Bryson's past books, but "At Home" is now my favorite.

  • Packing for Mars: The Curious Science of Life in the Void

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 28 mins)
    • By Mary Roach
    • Narrated By Sandra Burr
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Space is a world devoid of the things we need to live and thrive: air, gravity, hot showers, fresh produce, privacy, beer. Space exploration is in some ways an exploration of what it means to be human. How much can a person give up? How much weirdness can they take? What happens to you when you can’t walk for a year? Have sex? Smell flowers? What happens if you vomit in your helmet during a space walk? Is it possible for the human body to survive a bailout at 17,000 miles per hour?

Roy says: "Everything You Always Wanted to Know - and More"

I loved this book. Mary Roach wrote an insightful, quirky and fascinating book. Sandra Burr was a wonderful narrator. I would recommend Packing for Mars not just someone who has an interest in the space program but to everyone who has ever wondered what it really takes to even get to outer space.

  • In the President's Secret Service: Behind the Scenes with Agents in the Line of Fire and the Presidents They Protect

    • UNABRIDGED (8 hrs and 50 mins)
    • By Ronald Kessler
    • Narrated By Alan Sklar

Secret Service agents, acting as human surveillance cameras, observe everything that goes on behind the scenes in the president's inner circle. Ronald Kessler reveals what they have seen, providing startling, previously untold stories about the presidents, from John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson to George W. Bush and Barack Obama, as well as about their families, Cabinet officers, and White House aides.

ken says: "A so so read."
    "Just a gossip rag"

I purchased this book expecting to learn how the secret service works, but all I learned was useless gossip and one sided opinions of the author. I did learn an important lesson, read other member reviews before purchasing. Most of the reviewers share my opinion regarding the book. The book contained very little actual history or a "behind the scene" look at the secret service. I wish I could return this download, at least I can delete it and warn others before they make the same mistake.
