  • Adventures in Mindfulness: A Program to Cultivate the Wisdom of Your Body, Mind, and Heart

    • ORIGINAL (6 hrs and 37 mins)
    • By Jon Kabat-Zinn
    • Narrated By Jon Kabat-Zinn

This is Jon Kabat-Zinn's most comprehensive audio program on mindfulness. It combines gentle guidance with conversational narratives weaving together science, poetry, and the art of living - all in the service of deepening your appreciation of the "workability" of the present moment, no matter how hard or challenging your circumstances. This moment, when held in awareness with gentleness and self-compassion, has the potential for catalyzing, healing, and transforming your life. Mindfulness meditation is both a discipline and an adventure.

Sara says: "Jon Kabat-Zinn is wonderful as always"
"great book on staying in the present moment"
What made the experience of listening to Adventures in Mindfulness the most enjoyable?

This was my first audio book on mindfulness and I thought the author did a great job of describing the different techniques for staying in the moment. There are several guided meditations and tips for "breathing into the moment". As other reviewers noted, chapters 10 and 11 are repeated, but I did not find that this detracted from the book. It is a great book on learning how to stay in the present moment.

  • The Untethered Soul: The Journey Beyond Yourself

    • UNABRIDGED (6 hrs and 14 mins)
    • By Michael A. Singer
    • Narrated By Peter Berkrot
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Spiritual teacher Michael A. Singer explores the question of human identity and shows how the development of consciousness can enable us all to dwell in the present moment and achieve happiness and self-realization.

    "you have mistreated your mind"
What did you like best about this story?

This is one of the best books on mindfulness I have experienced. I will listen to this book again, with the exception of the last chapter where it began to feel like the author is biased towards the idea of a christian god. However, the rest of the book does not share the feel of the last chapter and I would greatly recommend it to anyone looking to become more mindful in their lives.

    Any additional comments?

"You have mistreated your mind by giving it a responsibility that it cannot handle. You want everything to go your way, you want to be safe, so you tell your mind to make it so. It tries, day and night, never stopping to create a world you feel safe in. The problem is, it's not changing reality, it's building a false reality in your mind. Your mind is so active because you gave it an impossible task to do. Release your mind of the responsibility of making sure everyone and everything will be the way you need them to be so that you can feel better inside. Just experience life instead of thinking about it. Everything will be okay when you are okay with everything."
