"Reality 36 Could have been Much Better"
The Tech was cool. A picture of the future that was different and possible.
However, the narrator was very annoying. Just about the time I had finally
gotten used to the narrator's voice, the story starts America Bashing. The
female protagonist was very refreshing, the andriod and cyborg not as much.
And then the story's ending was disapointing.
"Just a Lot of Fun !"
Everything hear is great fun. The Narrator is the best ever. The story line is twisting and turning and concludes well. Listen to it for just a stress relieving escape.
"Good Story"
"Player of Games" had interesting concepts, it made you think. It was a look at the
galactic federation called "the Culture". The talking ships and robots were very good and something different. Of the 3 Iain Banks Culture books that I have listen to, this is the only good one.
"Story is not worth the time"
The story is just not there. You put in all this time waiting for something that should be worth it and it never happens. Not nearly as good as "Player of Games". And that was not great. But it was the best of the 3 I have listen to.
"Blah Blah Blah Blah Blah"
This is my 3rd Iain Banks Culture Novel. The Ships are the only fun thing about the culture series. They made this book bearable. At a few points the story was even a little disgusting. "Player of Games" was good. This one listen to only if your crazy about the ships. Because they are funny. The Story line is not worth all the listening time.
"Very Good Non Math Text on Thermo"
I wish my engineering prof could have told it to me this way.
It gave me a better picture of the whole then what I learned
in school.
"Fun and Historic"
This is a very good read, and very good look at history also. Not to mention fun at times. With some twists.
"Judas Unchained too long"
For what you get it is way to long. But at least this one has an ending.
"Fuller Memorandum: A Laundry Files Novel Yuk!"
Just about the 1st thing the hero says is that there is no Jesus Christ. Thats when I stopped listening.
"Pandora's Star (not worth all the hours)"
After 37 hours, half of which are boring it ends in a cliff hanger that now requires you
to listen another 40 hours. Unless you are really into Peter Hamiltons Common Wealth
Pandora's Star is not worth it
