Two sisters. Two voices. One Heart.

The mystery of "Magic Man." The wicked riff of "Barracuda." The sadness and beauty of "Alone." The raw energy of "Crazy On You." These songs, and so many more, are part of the fabric of American music. Heart, fronted by Ann and Nancy Wilson, has given fans everywhere classic, raw, and pure badass rock and roll for more than three decades. As the only sisters in rock who write their own music and play their own instruments, Ann and Nancy have always stood apart - certainly from their male counterparts but also from their female peers.

Would you listen to Kicking and Dreaming again? Why?

Yes, I am actually on my second listen and really enjoy it. Ann and Nancy do a fantastic job recounting their lives and it's great to hear in in their own voices.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Love them both. I especially liked how they explained how the Beatles inspired them. They sure sounded like interesting, focused kids and I admire their commitment to the music, their family, and themselves.

    Which scene was your favorite?

I enjoyed so much, it's hard to decide. That's part of the reason I am listening to it all over again - it's THAT good!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes, definitely. It might have also been nice if the intro and conclusion music would have been a Heart tune instead of something else

    Any additional comments?

My only complaint is that i HATED how a narrator introduced each voice with each chapter. One can quickly/easily distinguish between Ann & Nancy's voices, so this "intrusion" is unnecessary and kind of disruptive.

As a young kid growing up in a farm town, Ross Mathews might as well have wished for a pet unicorn or a calorie-free cookie tree to grow in his front yard. Either of those far-fetched fantasies would have been more likely to come true than his real dream: working in television in Hollywood, California. Seriously, that stuff just doesn't happen to people like Ross. But guess what. It totally did.

What did you love best about Man Up!?

Definitely the narration/performance by Ross Matthews. I listened to the entire book on a flight yesterday and I'm sure my fellow passengers were wondering what I was listening to - such a fun time!

What did you like best about this story?

Hearing about his great childhood. What a strong foundation for him

Which character – as performed by Ross Mathews – was your favorite?

Loved his stories about meeting Madonna and other celebs. He also performed the book in his great signature voice and rapid-fire speaking style - really funny and full of pep

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Loved it and look forward to more books/stories by Ross.

    Any additional comments?

It would have been nice if Gwyneth and Chelsea would have read their parts themselves, but Ross did a fine job with their portions.

Where does My Mother Was Nuts rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Very good. Penny's performance was excellent and fun to listen to.

What other book might you compare My Mother Was Nuts to and why?

Tough to compare. I was amazed with the long lasting (and wide-ranging) friendships she has cultivated and maintained through the years. The title of the book is not really reflective of the content.

What about Penny Marshall’s performance did you like?

She made it sound as if she was talking directly to you (it wasn't "performed" at all).

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No extreme reactions - just an overall good feeling that I got from learning more about her as a something more than just Laverne & Shirley

    Any additional comments?

Overall, a fun experience and I am glad I listened to this one. Give it a shot!!

From a young age, Andy Cohen knew two things: He was gay, and he loved television. Now presiding over Bravo's reality-TV empire, he started out as an overly talkative pop-culture obsessive, devoted to Charlie's Angels and All My Children - and to his mother, who received daily letters from him while he was at summer camp, usually reminding her to tape the soaps. In retrospect, it's hard to believe that everyone didn't know that Andy was gay; still, he remained in the closet until college. Finally out, he embarked on making a career out of his passion for television.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Probably not, as sometimes a little Andy Cohen is a lot of take and might not be everyone's cup of tea

What did you like best about this story?

I was kind of ready to give up listening in the middle when he began to explain playing pranks on his parents and what a spoiled employee/intern he was at CBS. This aspect of him is just not likeable and while I understand that he lived it (and has learned from it), it was not fun to listen to. However, it did improve and I enjoyed the rest of the book.

What about Andy Cohen’s performance did you like?

LOVED the part where he imitated Ross Perot and Michael Jackson - really funny

Did Most Talkative inspire you to do anything?

No sorry, it was just a light escape to listen to while travelling

Growing up in a family of political journalists - and daughter of President Reagan’s White House social secretary - Ali Wentworth rebelled against her blue-blood upbringing, embracing Hollywood, motorcycles, even a few wildly inappropriate marriage proposals. Today she is an acclaimed comedic actress and writer, former Oprah regular, wife of political and media star George Stephanopoulos, and a mother who lets her two girls eat cotton candy before bed. Though she’s settled down, her rebellious nature thrives in her comedy and her view of her crazy world.

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

Probably not. If you want a funny story about someone who talks to you like a friend - buy Kathy Griffin's book instead

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I don;t know what I was expecting (maybe this was the problem). It had a few laugh out loud spots, but not as many as I desired

What three words best describe Ali Wentworth’s voice?

Declarative, clear, upbeat. I actually think it would have been better with a llitle more variety (not the same tone the whole time).

Was Ali in Wonderland worth the listening time?

Kind of - I did enjoy how Ali spoke about her Mom though - great voice when she spoke as her Mom

Funnyman Adam Carolla is known for two things: hilarious rants about things that drive him crazy and personal stories about everything from his hardscrabble childhood to his slacker friends to the hypocrisy of Hollywood. He tackled rants in his first book, and now he tells his best stories and debuts some never-before-heard tales as well. Adam Carolla started broke and blue collar and has now been on the Hollywood scene for over 15 years. Yet he never lost his underdog demeanor.

What made the experience of listening to Not Taco Bell Material the most enjoyable?

    I liked Adam's personality-packed narration

Who was your favorite character and why?

It's all about Adam, but I enjoyed learning about his early years and his family. Also liked how he used the houses he lived in to describe the different stages in his life.

Which character – as performed by Adam Carolla – was your favorite?

Not a character, but I especially liked the only semi-serious spot in the book where Adam explains that it was "will" (not talent or ability) that helped him get on the football team.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Some hearty laughs in several spots. Definitely a lot of "guy" humor, so watch out if you are offended by cursing or scatological references

    Any additional comments?

He never actually explained the title (or maybe I missed it), but I would have liked to have heard that story

This outrageously entertaining and bawdy roman à clef from reality TV star Bethenny Frankel follows a business-savvy, would-be actress in hot pursuit of the perfect man, the perfect job, and the perfect body. Burning through men like she burns through calories, our sexy, loud-mouthed heroine grasps at any opportunity that might take her to the top. Listeners will jump at the chance to hear about the thrilling highs and cringe-worthy lows of Bethenny’s first shaky steps into adulthood, told here in a fictional format.

Where does Skinnydipping rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Unusual in that I could see the "reality show" in it (as it actually was a combination of a few of them)

What did you like best about this story?

I thought the narrator's performance was excellent. She had to do a variety of voices/styles (often in the same paragraph) and it was fun listening. I especially enjoyed the "Martha Stewart-like" character - dead on!!

    Which scene was your favorite?

I thought the primary character's early years in LA were a blast. I can definitely see most of those things happening

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Not "Skinnydipping" that's for sure. I actually don;t know why the book has this title - did not make sense to me. I don;t think I would make this book into a movie

    Any additional comments?

Overall, a lot of fun to listen to. I really liked the beginning and middle, but was a little disappointed in the end where everything kind of magically fell into place (that part with Harris). The narrator's performance was top notch and I will seek her out for other books.

In this book, Galaxy tells the poignant story of his 13-year relationship with a petite gray-and-white short-haired cat named Benny, and gives singular advice for living with, caring for, and loving the feline in your home. When Benny arrived in his life, Galaxy was a down-and-out rock musician with not too much more going on than a part-time job at an animal shelter and a drug problem. Benny's previous owner brought the cat to the shelter in a cardboard box to give him up.

If you could sum up Cat Daddy in three words, what would they be?

    Jackson's unflinching story

What was one of the most memorable moments of Cat Daddy?

I had no idea what rough shape (physically and mentally) he was in and give him (and Benny!) a lot of credit for making the choice to change his life.

Which character – as performed by Jackson Galaxy – was your favorite?

I liked how Jackson described Benny as a "Jackie Gleason-like" busdriver

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The ending was heart-wrenching and poignant

    Any additional comments?

I was (happily) surprised that there were fewer cats stories in this book. It's primarily about Jackson's journey from a lonely, isolated life to a redemptive one. His narration is EXCELLENT and the primary reason I bought (and recommend) this book.

In this remarkable dual memoir, film legend Martin Sheen and accomplished actor/filmmaker Emilio Estevez recount their lives as father and son. In alternating chapters—and in voices that are as eloquent as they are different—they narrate stories spanning more than 50 years of family history, and reflect on their journeys into two different kinds of faith.

Would you consider the audio edition of Along the Way: The Journey of a Father and Son to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the print version, but since Martin and Emilio narrated it themselves, it made it much more meaningful (and that was the primary reason I bought the audiobook)

Who was your favorite character and why?

Loved hearing about the early days of both Martin and Emilio - I had no idea about their younger years

What about Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez ’s performance did you like?

Great to hear it in their own voices. Please note that there is no "gossip" in this book (no wild stories about Charlie Sheen, etc).

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not an extreme reaction, but a better understanding of these two and their outlook and relationship - very interesting and thoughtful

    Any additional comments?

Agree with other reviewers that the audio quality was only adequate/kind of poor (several spots where lines were repeated, wish there would have been a pause at the end of the book, etc).

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, very interesting story with a few helpful tips. Was kind of surprised about the health tips at the end, but they actually made a lot of sense.

What other book might you compare Total Memory Makeover to and why?

Unusual subject matter makes this one unique (in a good way!)

Loved that she narrated it herself. It;s the primary reason I bought it. What an amazing life she had had!

Anticipate, participate, recollect. She covers this throughout the book

    Any additional comments?

Fun and interesting and I came away with some good tips. Some of the activities (which are questions/things to do) might be better with the hard copy of the book though (since I am not often in a spot where I can write things down as I listen to the audiobook
