I just started to listen to books while driving home from work. "La" was a great escape to another time and place at the end of a busy day. McCall Smith captures the small things that make up a woman's life with great insight. He never fails to please. Emily Gray narrates with style!
Not to be missed, but one must listen to all the previous Gamache novels. Louise Penny writes with intelligence and a deep understanding of the human heart. Ralph Cosham is Inspector Gamache.
A history we should all know puts the final days of the Civil War and Lincoln's death in a new perspective. Much as I love O'Reilly, his choppy delivery can sometimes be distracting, but take this more as a riveting history lecture than a thriller and get into the story.
A fascinating study of evil in pre-revolutionary South Carolina. Can't wait to see what Matthew Corbett does in Book Two. A slow start, but stay with it and you'll be hooked.
Exceptionally well narrated by Eduardo Ballerini.
Interesting enough to get you started but there's little action. Having read all the earlier Mayfair witch books and the Vampire Chronicles, I thought this would be a good blend of the two. Rice gets into so much needless detail as the main character tells his story that one thinks it will never end. Needs more Lestat.
Penny keeps pulling you deeper into the minds and souls of her characters. Fabulous narration of this intriguing series.
Fascinating characters and intelligence in every book. I read the first in the series — listening is so much better. Ralph Cosham is an excellent narrator.
The intelligence of the entire Inspector Gamache series of Three Pines Mysteries is remarkable. I've fallen in love with this "Brigadoon" of a village and it's quirky inhabitants. What will happen between Clara and Peter? Learning more about the personal lives of the main characters with each revealing book. Only two books left in the series — I hope more are on the way!
Couldn't get past chapter 5. What a bunch of hooey! Maybe it's better when Alda narrates. I doubt it.
