I was expecting a lot more out of this book but it was so bad. Megan Hart and Lauren Dane wrote a very poor story indeed. The narrator Vivienne Scully was terrible. No voice changes for different characters and such a sickly sweet voice that i just gave up listening. She way over tried to sound sexy that her voice ended up sounding creepy instead.. The whole book was just horrible. Never again. :(
Colters’ Woman was the first Maya Banks books I read. I instantly fell in love with Adam, Ethan, and Ryan. I was so happy when Maya decided to expand the world of Clyde, Colorado and give us Colters’ Lady, Colters’ Daughter and Colters’ Promise. It was bittersweet to read Colters’ Gift and have to close the door on all these characters who feel like family.
As the story opens we see Lauren, months after the terrible ordeal with her ex, finally settling into the small Colorado mountain town. She has a job and a new place to live and has slowly regained her independence. Trying to move on and leave her painful past behind, Lauren gets an unexpected visit from tall, dark and tattooed, Liam Prescott and Noah Sullivan. Liam and Noah have been on a wild goose chase for months and came to Clyde for answers and to claim the woman they both love. What has Lauren been keeping from them? Does she return their feelings as well?
Lauren can’t believe her luck when not one but two men want to claim her. But can the relationship really work with two headstrong alpha males? As they explore the possibility of a relationship, the trio’s world is turned upside down when Lauren’s past literally comes crashing down on them. Can Liam and Noah save the woman they love from being thrust back into the previous hell she barely survived before?
It is no secret that Maya Banks is one of my very favorite authors. I absolutely love her character-driven stories and this story is no different. It was wonderful to see all the Colters again. It’s hard to believe that only a few years separate the books but many years have aged all those characters we love. There are a few adult themes addressed in the book that may be uncomfortable for some readers consisting of a violent and somewhat sadistic nature.
At the end of the book we are treated with a novella, Colters’ Legacy, that concludes the series. We find out what happens with Lily’s pregnancy; Lauren, Liam and Noah’s future; and a final scene with Adam, Ethan, Ryan and Holly that had me balling my eyes out. I will miss all of these beloved characters so very much.
I think that’s what makes a great author. Someone who makes us laugh, cry, and give us unforgettable characters that change our outlook. Maya writes about strong, tough men who love, respect and takes care of the women in their lives. Although fictitious, I often wonder if men like these truly exist. Thank you, Maya for helping us to dream and for sharing this beautiful story that is The Colters.
The Immortals After Dark series holds a place on the upper echelon of my all time favorite paranormal romance books. I always look forward to the entertaining adventures of whichever couple the author has created each time. In the tenth title of this timeless series, the witch Carrow has been captured and held prisoner on an island run by the Order. Torques are placed on all of the Immortal prisoners to restrain their powers so they can be experimented on by barbaric humans seeking answers to their questions about their powers. The humans have deemed any Immortal "miscreants" and their ultimate mission is to destroy them all.
On the outside Carrow is a party girl, one who enjoys life, but inside is where she keeps the pain of a loveless childhood. When another witch is murdered, her daughter, Ruby, is left an orphan. Carrow knows she must step up and raise the child as her own. Except the Order has now made Ruby a prisoner and has offered Carrow a deal to save both their lives. This deal entails traveling to the hellish plane, Oblivion, to lure back a uniquely powerful demon the Order wants. The notorious demon Malkom has been alone for centuries but when he first catches the scent of a female in his world, he knows she is special and sent for him. Carrow is on a mission, to lure back a nightmarish demon. She never figured on falling in love.
I liked the tough talking, partying Carrow from other books and I was glad she was receiving her own story. But after completing the novel I didn't feel for her the way I wanted to. I thought there was too much time spent on the world-building of the Island and the humans who run the facility. Even though I did find out a lot about both Malkom and Carrow's past, the sections when they were together didn't fully convince me why they belonged together besides the usual finding-your-mate reason. I wanted to be convinced these two should be a wonderful couple and I wanted to see more of Carrow in action as a witch. I know the torque prevented her from using her powers while held captive on the island but for those six days in Oblivion it was deactivated. The battle scenes which took place there were light on the actual battle scenes. The romance was aplenty but I didn't get a true sense behind their coupling. I thought the most convincing and tender scenes were between Carrow and Ruby. The spark wasn't there for me this time around (like it was when I read about Conrad and Neomi in Dark Needs at Night's Edge.
I know others have really enjoyed this book and to a certain degree, I did. I began the story with high expectations and ended it satisfied and entertained, but not loving it. Robert Petkoff delivers an out-standing narration as always :)
Willing Sacrifice is the sixth book in the Knights of the Board Room series by Joey W. Hill. I chose this book because it is out of my comfort zone. I like male domination stories not female domination stories. However, I was very surprised with this story. While this is this is part of a series it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel.
Janet has a nickname of Ice Queen. She has been hurt in ways while on one hand is realistic but on the other hand is hard to believe someone would do that to another. She is a wonderful combination hard and soft. Max really makes this story. While Max is no sub, not now nor in the future will he ever be. He seems to enjoy Janet meeting her needs and indulging him with his after.
The chemistry between Janet and Max is explosive. The sex between Janet and Max is off the charts. I enjoyed the compromise Janet and Max came to so they could be together. I enjoyed that Janet respected Max, his needs and met her own needs as well.
The complaint i have is that I didn't like G. C. VonCloudts voice for Max. This really did interfere with the story for me as I just couldn't picture such a strong man like Max with the voice she used for him. He should of had a lower and more powerful tone. Her voice for Max and the picture in my head Clashed,- big time....
This totally addictive and Screaming Hot story starts with a skinny-dip in the estate pool where Bailey works. The new estate owner (Mr Sex himself) catches her and immediately the Heat starts - with devastating Dripping effects. Connor, the new owner of Rosemont, is not only a to die for Spunky Devil billionaire, but he has a hidden agenda, one he reveals to Bailey from the first night they meet. She has a few secrets of her own, her beloved grandpa, the estate groundskeeper, is in hospital so she is working in his place to support them both financially. This story is not just Supper Boiling (HOT AS) it is also full of suspense, and a lot of the story leave one with loads of anticipation just wondering what jaw dropping thing will happen next.....
I adored this book, it was right up my alley. I Soooo hope book two will be along shortly for me to devour - I'm waiting anxiously ....... :)
I truly enjoyed this book, Soooo very much, I could not stop listening. From the first few lines, this book draws you inside its story-line like a tidal wave and you stand no chance of escaping it.
It is in essence a love story, of course, but it also deals with issues such as suicide. It does it so beautifully, with humor and wit, without being too morbid and overpowering the love story itself. We meet the two main characters, Kate and Charlie, while they are both trying to commit suicide. Completely different events in their lives have made them so helpless and hopeless to resort to such drastic acts against themselves, but instead of “drowning” with them, we find ourselves laughing with them, laughing at their interaction with each other and hoping that two hopeless souls can equate to a hopeful ending.
This amazingly compelling story that elates you rather than depress you. It also gave one an insight of how a person might feel just before losing all hope and what can bring them to that desperate act. I understood all there feelings and that's why i connected with this book so much.
Tilly Hooper;s narration was spot on for all the characters. She is a true talent. I don't know what book to follow up from this one. I feel a little lost after listening to this emotional story. I'll have to go hunting on Audible for my next adventure. :)
Born and bred for the military, Vicious has spent the last twenty-four years rising through the ranks. This dark-haired sprite ensnared him with one glance. Now she is his reward.
Despite her fear of Vicious, Hallie surrenders under his skillful hands and mouth. Vicious makes a promise to her. If she’ll submit to him, she’ll know only pleasure and comfort. After a lifetime of hardship, his offer tempts her greatly.
One night with Hallie and Vicious feels his protective instincts flaring. He’ll do anything to make her happy and keep her safe, even if that means surrendering his heart. Though he intended to master her, Vicious realizes it may be his sweet Hallie who masters him.
Our heroine endures trials and violence with strength equal to that of her warrior mate. There is loads of Sex in this story. It is much like Laurann Dohner's Cyborg series so if you liked that you will probably like this book. I don't like to compare authors but as they are so much alike It's hard not to. For me this book did not thrill me like Laurann Dohner's Cyborg series . :)
This is my favorite book in the series so far. I absolutely loved Skylar and Kade and sweet baby Eliza. I’m not always a fan of couples having children in an erotic romance novel, not every author can pull this off authentically. But Lorelei has written a wonderful love story that captures the the joys and difficulties in becoming an unexpected family while managing to keep the romance, and Sexual chemistry SMOKING HOT - Extremely HOT....... Kade is one amazing Man ;)
They only dated briefly but Kade fell hard and fast. Unfortunately, things didn't work out and they broke up and went their separate ways. Kade was going through a hard time and he volunteered to live on a remote area of the McKay ranch for a year for a cattle grazing experiment. In the mean time, Skylar discovered was pregnant with Kade’s baby. Not knowing where he went and not having anyway to contact him, Skylar was on her own. When Kade returned a year later and realized he had a three month old daughter with Skylar - whom he’s been in love with since before they broke up - he becomes determined to be a father to his daughter and charm his way back into Skylar’s bed and ultimately her heart.
Rebecca Estrella is a very talented narrator. Her voice changing skills are magic and she always captures me and hold me in with-in a story...
Jules Montgomery is attracted to her boss Nate McKenna. The problem is, nothing can ever happen because of the no-fraternization policy. But it did, a year ago. They had a one-night stand and after Jules leaves his apartment, they have been professional with each other ever since. Nate no longer wants to be professional, he wants more and for a lot longer than one night. He wants her any way he can get her. He just needs to convince her to take a chance.
Jules Montgomery was an independent sassy woman. She knows what she wants and isn't afraid to work hard to get it. She is confident and intelligent. I really liked her. She never overwhelmed me with her attitude. In fact, I liked how comfortable she was in her own skin. She knows she is beautiful but doesn't act conceited because of it. She had a good balance of sexy badass and feminine chic going on. I loved how determined she was to keep her independence and work hard at her office job. She also is tough and can take care of herself, VERY well. Did she ever annoy me - Yeah, a few times. There were moments she seemed to run away from her problems rather than face them which was a bit frustrating. She could at times be a bit stubborn too. But overall, she was a great character.
Now Nate McKenna is one huge ass sexy HOTTIE!! Boy, did this man melt my panties. He was an alpha and protective. He had tattoos and a pierced cock. He was UBER sexy - He was also really intelligent and dedicated to his work. He is a bit of a bad boy with a dirty mouth but SO freaking sweet and romantic. I wanted to lick him up. I loved how determined he was to make Jules his. The things he would say and do made me absolutely SWOON! BUT... he was not perfect. Nope, he could at times piss me off. He wanted to take care of Jules, which is fine by me, but he could be overbearing at times. He was bossy and also got upset a tad to quickly.
The sex in this book was Super Sexy without it ever feeling like it was too much sex. We got a story that was really great and some great steamy scenes, a perfect balance. The ending was really great. All and all this was a grate listen, I loved it :)
I felt like a slower pace than normal with my next listen so grabbed Moonlight Road. It was defiantly not like my usual heart pounding steamy sexy story, but was great for a change. Most enjoyable. :)
Moonlight Road tells the story about Erin Foley and Aiden Riordan. Erin has spent almost her whole life taking care of her family and now that family has flown the nest. Erin is at a crossroads and makes a decision to head to Virgin River to take a vacation. While she is living there, she meets up with Aiden Riordan, who has just left the military and is trying to find out what he wants to do next. Their meeting does not bode well for their relationship when things seem to go wrong for them. It will take a love so great and a town that is supporting for these two to find what they are seeking.
There are other stories also happening in addition to the main characters that makes these books the more intriguing. You get to follow the main characters as well as the secondary characters and keep abreast of what is going on this town.
A young man and his companions flee their backwater town after discovering that a terrible and mysterious dark spirit seeks them with demonic minions.
This book was just to long and to full of un-necessaries for my tastes. It was slow and i got sick of hearing about everyone's cloths described in all their glorious details. I purchased this back in 2011 and have tried several times, over that period, to get int the story with no success. It's just not for me....
