started off well, but i did find the 'time line' could have been clearer in the stories. still overall interesting to listen to.
also, i had to redownload at one point early on and i could have sworn the first version had a male reader. but that could be the wood alcohol talking.
it's been a rarity, that the sound of narration in a childs voice hasn't made me skin crawl (most prominently in "the road') and i was a bit nervous going into this, but it was done flawlessly. the ending was the 'right' resolve, but still wanted a bit more.
1st half started off well, but really got dull, then 2nd half started off strong and gave me hope, but got dull again. ending was predictable, and the fact that a story point about a character was not revealed as it would have clearly been part of the characters motivation be it conscious or not, was not 'clever' on the part of the writer.
though books 1 & 2 have more 'action' in them, and i admit to knowing what the last chapter would deal with, i still very, very much enjoyed the ride and sincerely felt a sense of closure for these amazing characters. stieg larsson is missed, but for what it's worth left a fantastic legacy. kudos to simon vance as well.
i liked the dark grey tone of this novel, but to be perfectly honest, the Stechschulte's reading the boy character, drove me out of my mind and was constantly hoping the kid would get 'offed' as early as possible. his choice to read this character came off so annoying, it made the listening difficult.
that said, i enjoyed the simple story of a bleak outlook.
what more can i say other than i can not wait for the last installment!
to me this was clearly written with screenplay and money in mind. obvious to get this out fast to coincide for advance sale with the A&D movie. it did not have the intrigue as the DaVinci or A&D. it was completly telegraphed. that said, Paul Michael is a wonderful narrator.
