The Antidote is a series of journeys among people who share a single, surprising way of thinking about life. What they have in common is a hunch about human psychology: that it’s our constant effort to eliminate the negative that causes us to feel so anxious, insecure, and unhappy. And that there is an alternative "negative path" to happiness and success that involves embracing the things we spend our lives trying to avoid.

Oliver is truthfully thoughtful and direct with his subject matter. He openly looks at it from all directions. Easy to listen to

At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

Would you listen to Wild again? Why?

Yes, Cheryl writes exactly what goes on in your head when you take a long "Journey" hike. You feel like you don't even know yourself

What was one of the most memorable moments of Wild?

    Blisters on her feet

Which character – as performed by Bernadette Dunne – was your favorite?

    Cheryl herself... of Course

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When Cheryl and Lief put down their family horse

    Any additional comments?

If you ever taken a long hike or are considering it ... this is a must read. It so much more than the physical effort. I really wish to meet Cheryl in person someday
