    No leader of modern times was more uniquely patriotic than Charles de Gaulle. Thereafter, he twice rescued the nation from defeat and decline by extraordinary displays of leadership, political acumen, daring, and bluff, heading off civil war and leaving a heritage adopted by his successors of right and left.

    Disturbed by the phony French accent adopted by reader for de Gaulle cites

    Mother of Mercy. How could you hire a guy to read book abt WWII who can't pronounce French or German? Wehrmacht > Ware-mackt? Foch > Fock? Aisne > Ays-nee?
    C'mon. Reader otherwise excellent but need coach these guys in the proper nouns and pronounciation of foreign phrases, to be predicted in a book this subject. Decision to attribute to de Gaulle a French accent via Pepe LePew imbecile. Jeeeeeezzz...
