I picked up this book because of the wackey title and felt the need of a laugh or two. I enjoyed it immensely! This was the first book of Ms. Andrews that I had read and I quickly went in search of her others. I have to say that this is still one of my favorite books and I read or listen to a book a day. Have FUN!
This book did not have that great of review and it was not very expensive so I did not have high expectations. However, it was excellent! I normally just listen to books when traveiing. This book traveled with me throughout the day until late into the night until I finished it. I could not put it down.
The Vicki Bliss series has always been my favorite of Elizabeth Peter's work. I am so glad she revisited Vicki. The trip back has been wonderful. Look for the other titles, Borrower of the Night, Street of Five Moons, Silhouette in Scarlet, Night Train to Memphis, Trojan Gold. These earlier works are somewhat dated, but great stories all the same.
I have listened to most of the Dick Francis books offered by Audible and most if not all are read by Tony Britton. For some reason my download of the book made Tony sound slower or maybe pedantic is the better description. But once the story took off as usual with Dick Francis' books I hated to turn the book off.
Most stories where single moms are the main characters show women as being rather helpless and without options. The main character in the book struggles with her priorities but is NOT helpless. I enjoyed the book quite a bit and look forward to her next one.
I am in love with the entire Vicki Bliss series. I picked up one by accident, when I was desperate to hear something new. The series is a little dated as it was written quite a few years ago, but is fresh, funny and just all around good entertainment. The cast of characters are somewhat caractures of art professors everywhere. I think Vicki is a great deal more fun than Amelia Peabody. I have listened to the Ameilia series & all the Janet Evanovich books but loves these best. I am an insurance adjuster & spend a great deal of time in my car, so I am a prolific listener. I have these books on cassettes, paperback & now I am buying on digital. I have enjoyed them in all genre's multiple times. A real keeper. Another must read/listen is Mary Kay Andrews "Savannah Blues".
