Not very engaging, but by no means a waste. I feel I got something out of it, though I feel I could have been given more.
Mr. McKee is detailed about what works and blunt about what doesn't; no beating around the bush.
This book is precisely what it claims to be.
This is the worst book I've ever heard. Let me sum up the entire book: "Find out what the other person wants."
That's it. Now imagine hearing 50 different examples of cases when something went right because someone followed that idea. That's the whole book.
Mr. Carnegie presents anecdotes as evidence. This is sin enough to not believe anything he says. Furthermore, the anecdotes always have some glorious ending.
Bob found out what his boss wanted, saw things from his point of view, and was made partner.
Steve was nice to his girlfriend's grandmother, so she gave him a brand new car.
And on and on and on and on and on and on. Unbelievable examples and unnecessary repetition. Again, try to see things from the other person's point of view and find out what they want. It's a one sentence book.
