"Fantastic"
I love how Eve continues to grow (as a person) and within her relationships with other people. Great plot (I don't want to give anything away!)
"been there, done that"
I was so looking forward to this book and after listening to it was disappointed. It is dull and lacks originality. Characters types, behaviours and descriptions are recycled from previous works with a different name pasted on. Plot points are reused from other books. Interesting concept anchors the series, but, author seems to have run out of steam and has difficulty executing. Been there, done that, bought the tshirt.
"good first book in a series"
As I suspected this is the first in a series (see review on Amazon and www.thedaemon.com)and it is good. It sets the premise and creates a believable plot with reasonable characters for a thriller. Ends with many loose ends that will set the stage for the sequel "Freedom".
First time author who originally self-published is to be admired for the challenging topic. Unrealistic uses of police / fatal force and for crisis management teams.
"Story strong on cold war info;"
This author is strong in the use of cold war assets and is most comfortable in the days before the Berlin Wall came down. Unfortunately, the period of time with the new Russia and break up of the Soviet bloc is not handled well and the plot of the novel flounders in this period. The resolution was too obvious.
"Not funny;Warning gory details."
I had read a previous review indicating that this author was similar to Evanovich so I downloaded the entire series to listen to while traveling.
Unfortunately, while the stories are good, there are gory details that would come out of the blue and were very disturbing.
Didn't find anything worth giggling about. Story slow to develop.
"Fascinating way to look at detail"
Author takes a challenging topic and makes it understandable to every one. Reader is excellent and is a good match to the material.
At this time of turbulent change, it is very thought provoking on how business and management could evolve.
"too long and pompous"
The narrator's voice is irritating and he sounds like he is pontificating.
The english grammar and use of language is poor; original work needs to be better written and more importantly, better edited. A third could have been cut which would have greatly improved the story. As a Canadian, I don't mind the left wing point of view but the author throws statements out without sufficient detail to support his arguments or further his story. This can be very irritating.
"No Joe nor Ranger"
Stephanie pairs with a character from an early novel called Diesel in "Plum Lucky" and I found I really missed Joe and/or Ranger. A good read that amuses but I wouldn't rank it as one of my favourites. I'm not going to give away any of the plot but the antics are still as cute as ever. Written for St Patricks Day there may even be a leprechaun involved!
"Classic Stephanie"
Wonderful book continues the long running Plum tradition for crazy hijinks with all of our favourite characters. Only one car gets to visit car heaven in this book. I'm afraid of getting into any detail for fear of giving way any plot points but suffice to say that there are many good laughs; Grandma has an incredible scene where she wants to be a rock n' roller; And of course Stephanie has her usual angst about Joe and Ranger. Who do you think she is going to end up with? Great book with many laughs that is the perfect reward for getting through one of *those* days.
