Sho Sunaga

Story about the second brother and a struggling single mother. I think I found my favorite character in the older lady neighbor. I feel terrible that I felt vindicated when Gloria was stricken by heart attack. But she was sooo terrible to the heroine that I felt she deserved it. I also have to say that Alyson and her mother not reconciliating instantly was a nice surprise.

Although nothing major in the ongoing war has happened, I feel this book gave a good start to the next direction the series is going and prepared Kitty for it.

I love books filled with action, but that doesn't mean I love upheaval and spectacular stuff all the time. This series is nice in a sense it is not the "end of the world" again and again. Yes the Big Bad is looming on the horizon but people are people and they have lives. This book reminds you of that. Kitty sees the big picture and she has been pursuing that for a while. On the other side the little things like finding a house, doing a wacky radio show and keeping up with the pack and her family have been a bit neglected. Those thing all catch her unaware literally in this book. I love that she is able to talk it out mostly and that Ben is the foundation she relies on.
Outworldly nothing "major" like a battle happen but internally Kitty was able to reconfirm what makes her herself and that I think is pretty major.

I was sad at the end but optimistic everything will work out as it should in the near future. Looking forward to reading more.

I love Sherlock Holmes' pastiches and this one was no exception. I think the narrator as Watson really added to the atmosphere of the dark foggy London's bloody mystery of Jack the Ripper. The man behind "Jack" was carefully uncovered with the clever way clues were presented and wasn't out of the blue or too obvious.

All the subsidiary characters like Lestrade and Mycroft were very well written, too. I really enjoyed the book.

If you like Sherlock pastiches I would recommend this book!

Since I gobbled up the first book the Modern Witch and loved it sooo much. I pretty much bought everything that's available on the series! That's how much I liked it.

This book follows the first book and shows more of the world of the Modern witches. It goes into more about the family and the relationship surrounding them. The concept of the hidden "witch" talent here is very modern and interesting. Made me want to play the game! The additional characters further introduced here and were just glimps in the first book, give extra warmth and depth!

LOVE the series.

I would have never picked the series up if it hadn't been on sale in audible and had high stars on both amazon and Goodreads. Boy, am I glad I started this series.

It's an amazing series of books centered around "modern witches," or some might prefer people with psychic power(ie telepathy) who can focus and control their magic through spells. Since they are modern witches they use the Internet to search for unknown witches.

Magic is important in this series, but rather more important theme throughout the series is self discovery of the people who got connected with the "Witch Central." Like my other favorite[Virgin River series, it is about community of wonderful people supporting each other. All the books just make me smile and feel warm. The first book is weak compared to the other books but it's a great introduction to the series.

I recommend the books for those whose favorite includes virgin river series and would like a little of warm magic in their lives.

A fun read but for those people who are bothered by language, historical accuracy and realistic things it might be too much. You need to be able to ignore the too modern language usage and actions of the characters.
If you can, then some parts are laugh out loud funny and enjoyable. But I think I will stick to the Argeneau books which I love.

Was going to continuing listening to another book but ended up listening to an old favorite while to/from work. I just couldn't resist.

I love the balance between Aaron, Chandra and Darvish. They are perfect together in this quest to find themselves as well as save Darvish's country. It is still believable and nice to read how the relationship of the three strengthens through the trip and eventually heals all of them. Although this is my first time to "listen" to the book, I read this book numerous times since I first read this decades ago. It's still gold!

OMG just found that this is out in audiobook at Audible.

One of my favorite Tanya Huff book! Should I or should I not? that is the problem. It could be a wonderful comfort listen if the narrator is good.... Hmmm FT/MM and has a nice strong female character... just like a good Yaoi manga.....

Don't be fooled by the cover which really really doesn't convey what's inside. Seriously please don't judge this book by its cover.

This was a surprisingly fun steampunk/alternative history, post-WW2, with the dark noir atmosphere magic/scifi comic book like action. And the enemy is the EVIL Japanese lord which I'd like to object to. However, to be fair I can totally imagine Japan under a dictatorship and become a nation blindingly following him. Unfortunately the author seems to have forgotten to check names so the main evil guy has a name with two last names instead of a first name but I can live with that.

In spite of all the cool gadgets like dirigibles, machine guns and nuke like bombs, I was most attracted to the characters in the book. They are in a way cookie cut superheros but are portrayed in a way you actually see them as people. On the other hand the villans were sort of predictable and boring.

Scenes and setting are definitely and deliberately described and set like a movie. Readers who are comicbook and managa readers will have just imagining the scenes.

I also have to say that I found the explanation of the magic talents and how they develop is very interesting. The magic is caused by an entity that actually is alive and like a parasite they symbiotically live off human beings who can take magic power from it. It resides in a realm between life and death and only "very special" people can perceive it. However I would like to reread it to understand it better!

OK done with the series and I have to say I enjoyed it a lot. Lane sensei gives us a LOT of information and that is what really got to me. I hated that the characters had to survive heaps and heaps of difficulty and angst but they overcame all with love. I wish that she also gave that detailed attention to the straight women in the group as much as straight men like John or Andrew. But that is just a minor complaint. A nice read and a great feeling good conclusion.

This book was particularly great in that half of the story's timeline is parallel to the previous book, thus adding a back/extra story to it. I just couldn't get into Shane as much as Deacon and Crick but I really loved the character of Micky. I know a person exactly like him. It was painful to watch (read) him. I have to say there were a bit too much of crap upon crap heaped upon them, but they prevailed and that's what I think counts. I am glad that Deacon doesn't have to worry about the next door anymore!

One thing I have problem with a lot of MM novels are that you really get to know one character really well while the other characters motives and thoughts are somewhat vague. I am not saying that it is not described, it's just not really expressed. For example, we get to know about Jory really well in (:A Matter of Time,by Mary Calmes)] on the other hand Sam not really. Well I suppose this could be said about a lot of romance novels. You get to know the heroines extremely well like a good girl friend, but the heroes not really.
BUT in this story we are invited to join both of the main characters' mind and hearts. It makes the story a bit longer and maybe dragging in some parts, but I loved it. I am looking forward to continue reading the series.
