"Fulfilling Read..."
Narrarator was great. Peele has improved greatly over the years. Zuri makes you a part of each detail. During games I felt like I was on the football field. During Intimacy I felt like I was there too. :)
"Good Story Average Narrator"
This appears to be a narrator in training: audible smacking noises, breaking sentences at weird intervals, monotone during exciting times but about 30% of the book she nails it. Not an unbearable listen but quality is lacking. Good story line contrast between absolute peace and necesarry dangers. SMOKING HOT love scenes.
"Entertaining but lacking"
Not Brenda's best. There were so many opportunities to make the storyline more interesting in the first half. The second one was better. Now the narrator Madison Vaughn and Gabra Zackman I believe to be the same person. At any rate she does "ok" until she does female voices. They sound like preschoolers or very weak. Hearing a kids voice saying erotic things....yuck!
"A good wrap to the series"
A good read. Kept my interest and showed how twisted and entagled ones mind can be regarding love. I did think however the voice of michael was too "peachy" and probably more fit for Jerome. lol
"The ending murdered a good book"
I enjoyed this read. It captured my attention. The ending.....ugh! I cant call it a cliff hanger but it does take you to the edge of the cliff without pushing you over. Like slamming on the brakes a the last minute. Otherwise I would have given it 4 stars.
"Mary what happened to you?"
I absolutley fell in love with the Jada Diamond series begining with Soulmates disapates. Was so excited to see audible had another Mary Morrison title. Mary's writting style has dramatically changed over the years and not for the better. There were so many times I said "That would never go down like that" in this book. It was all over the place and lacked depth. Just one crazy thing to the next. And Allyson Johnson as a narrator??? All female characters sounded like 3 year olds. And the men sounded gruff.
"Combines Love and History like no other"
Beverly's books always leave me with a thirst to disect history. If history classes were tought through storylines of this magnitude we all would have straight A. Powerful Characters, Powerful Narration. Loved it. I dont even read the plots when I see one of her books available. I JUST BUY IT!!!!
"Appreciative Writting"
This had to be a literary challenge to write and I was Impressed. Spent a little time Confused at first until I got the hang of the "characters". Blending present vs. past, natural vs supernatural, sane vs insane, love vs. lust...wheew you got to have skills but she pulled it off.
"Even my husband loved it!"
Wonderfully written and performed. This was my first read by Zuri. No stone left unturned.
"Could have done more..."
Brenda creates great characters but for some reason she sells herself short by under developing them. I would have like to see the story begin during the deception phase by the husband. I would like to get into the mind of someone who would do such a thing. Also I felt like I didnt learn a lot about the other wives. Savannah is one of my favorite narrators but she does not have the voice to represent black characters. In my mind I made the characters white until Brenda described them and I had to chuckle.
