Technology may be different in 2060 New York, yet the city is still a place of many cultures and great divides. And as ever, some murders receive more attention than others - especially those in which the victim is a prominent businessman found in his Park Avenue apartment tied to the bed - and strangled - with cords of black velvet.

Susan Ericksen, the narrator, is amazing. And I love listening to all of the new situations Nora Roberts comes up. Fun, too.

On Manhattan’s Upper East Side, a woman lies dead at the bottom of a brownstone’s basement steps, stripped of all her valuables. Most cops might call it a mugging gone wrong, but Lieutenant Eve Dallas knows better. A well-off accountant and a beloved wife and mother, Marta Dickenson doesn’t seem the type to be on anyone’s hit list. But when Eve and her partner, Peabody, find blood inside the brownstone, she knows Marta’s murder is the work of a killer who’s trained, yet not professional or smart enough to remove all the evidence.

The J. D. Robb "in Death" series is superb, well worth listening to over and over again (as I and my friends have found). Susan Ericksen, the narrator, is excellent; the best I've ever heard as a wizard of many voices. In this series, you get to know all the characters and love them and enjoy their adventures (and humor).

When a high-society party is crashed by a naked, knife-wielding, blood-covered man who "thinks" he might have killed someone, Eve Dallas must track down the crime, and the criminals. Everything points to Satanic ritual, but Eve doesn't believe in devil worship.

I don't appreciate the 1/2 books, the ones 1/2 the usual size - they seem short, abrupt, crammed.

Reva Ewing, a former member of the Secret Service, a security specialist for Roarke Enterprises, is a prime suspect in a double homicide. She had every reason to want to kill her husband, the renowned artist Blair Bissel. Not only was he having an affair, he was having it with her best friend. Dante had been courting his victim in cyberspace for weeks before meeting her in person. A few sips of wine and a few hours later, she was dead. The murder weapon: a rare, usually undetectable date-rape drug with a street value of a quarter million dollars.

Seemed like just one voice. Although nice, I missed the distinctive Peabody and McNab voices.

They died with smiles on their faces. Three apparent suicides: a brilliant engineer, an infamous lawyer, and a controversial politician. Three strangers with nothing in common - and no obvious reasons for killing themselves. Police lieutenant Eve Dallas found the deaths suspicious.

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Like this series of books, but sometimes the erotica takes over and it feels like a Romance Novel. Plus it's always 2058, regardless of how many months go by.

Would you be willing to try another book from J. D. Robb? Why or why not?

Yes, enjoy the series. It's fun.

What three words best describe Susan Ericksen’s voice?

    She sounds like Eve.

Was Rapture in Death worth the listening time?

    Yes
