I've read most all of Peter Robinson's books and this being the first in the series it is not his best. That being said, the real problem with ths audio book is the narration. It portrays Banks with low brow accent, unsophisticated and bumbling. Not at all giving justice to Mr. Robinson's witty character, Inspector Banks.
a little too much time spent on the court room as if it were on stage, who was in the audience......family members, friends, etc....really?
Dick Hill really brings Reacher to life, bravo.
The story was well crafted within the obvious scope of the series.
All in all a good listen..
Some good future thinking....maybe a little too much gore to wade through getting there..
some okay salaciousness, also maybe a bit too much detail...especially the double dipping...yikes
Head scratching a few times with mispronounced words by the narrator....probably could have used any extra pass by the editor...
Good story line, fine narration by John Lee, well worth the time and money spent.
Orders of magnitude pretentious this book is. Sort of Neuromancer meets necromancer without the style and content of Gibson.
Couldn't wait to get through it.
Don't waste your $
As a big fan of Peter Robinson, I like the book.
Mr. Prebble's narration for me was really monochromatic. He almost sounds bored reading the text.
Some one like Toby Longworth would have been a much better choice.
In this massive audiobook, one has to hang in there to enjoy it. By the end I was definitely
engaged. I would have like a little less supercilious reading though, good as it was.
irrelevant question audible, if you want a review stop looking for marketing info,
word 14m word 15
well crafted story line
yes, believable accents for the most part, could use a little work on the Italian
can we please get back to a regular review set up, this discourages me from a helpful review to other listeners
would recommend this audiobook, nicely crafted and well performed.
this is all I have to say, silly that audible has a 15 word minimum
it seemed like it took fooooooorever for Mr. Coben to develope this story, way too much time to state the obvious
excellent performer, always like his feel for the subject
