Emily and Einstein is a favilous book without any substance. It is a fun read but that is all.
This is the first performance by Dan John Miller and Cassandra Campbell that I have listened too. They did an excellence job with a very mediocre book.
Sarah Nickerson because she takes a terrible accident to create a new and more rewarding life for herself and her family.
The narrator did a very good job of revealing the emotions of each charactor in the book.
I love Historical Fiction and Honolulu brought to light a little know history of Hawaii in the late 19th and early 20th century.
No, I felt that the middle and end of the book were too long. I felt that the book should have ended long before it did. I felt that the end was wrapped up too perfectly.
The narrated did an excellent job of using a different speech pattern for the numerous charactors in the book.
Andras Lévi was my favorite character because he was so full of life even face of the misery he faced. He did not loose his humor in face of the enormous hardships he faced.
His narration of the book help me separate the numerous characters of the book.
Andras Lévi. Andras has all the characters that I adore in a person. He was niave, brave, and had a dry sence of humor that help him face his many challenges.
I love Historical fiction and this book covers a horrific little known story. Breaking the book between current time and historical time makes the book easier to read.
The story line of the Historical events of 1915
No, but I thought her performance was excellent.
Maybe, I usually do not reread or listen to books a second time but this was such a well written and enjoyable book, I would consider rereading it. The Secret Life of Bees has so much wrapped up between the covers of this book that its hard to begin to appraise it. Sue Monk Kidd has tackled the race issues of the 50 and 60s head on in this book. But she does it in such a way that the emotions and tensions of the period are revealed harmoniously. Using a young white girl to reveal the suffering of the blacks during this period is a unique and enlighting way to get her point accross.
The most memorable moment of this book is when Lilly helps Rosaline escape from prison/hospital.
Rosaline was my favorite character.
Pat Conroy is the best at character development. His plots tend to go on too long and "The Great Santini" was one of the longer. I read "South of Board" and love it. It took me longer to get into "The Great Santini" but it slowly began to grow on me. I have the misfortune of knowing someone very much like the father (The Great Santini) in this book so I was able to relate to it very well. I love Conroy's ability to place you in the scenes, to understand what each of the characters are thinking and going through.
Yes. He's an excellent writer and even though his book are too wordy, they are well worth the experience.
Dick Hill did an excellent job portraying the voice and emotions of each of the character's of the book.
Mary Ann, the older sister, was the most memorable character. She was the only one who did not let her father intimidate her, maybe because she was also the one most like her father.
The beginning of the book is really boring and I almost didn't finish. But I was glad that I did.
Alan Brennert is an wonderful writer. In Moloka'i, he will bring you to tears as he weaves this heart breaking story. Most of the characters are well developed. His description of the Island of Moloka'i doing this period is excellent. This is a book that will remain with you forever.
Her pronunciation of the Hawaian words and names was invaluable
This is an extremely sad book that will bring the strongest to tears
I felt that this book was very well written. Good character development. Good mystery. Well developed plot. It wasn't a spell binding page turner but it was a very good read.
The way the story of the past was written in the present in a format of a letter to the dead sister was a unique presentation.
I felt that this book lacked everything makes for good literature. It had a weak plot, poor character development, the author's research for the story line was not thorough. I read this book for a book club and the majority of my fellow members agreed with my assessment.
