I have been waiting since october to get a chance to listen to the newest installment of discworld. I already went out and bought the book, but these stories translate so well into a spoken narrative. The new Tiffany Aching book is a little bit slower to start than the rest, but it is still a fantastic read. The themes are a little more adult (nothing lewd) as Tiffany is getting older, but it is still child friendly. There are some great feegle moments to look forward to in this book. So while its not Pratchett's best work, it is still very good.
Now i just have to wait for the US to publish Jasper Ffordes new book....
There are so many negative reviews for this book yet I enjoyed it. I'm not sure what everyone was expecting, but in all three books there are tragic moments, and heart wrenching scenes. So why did everyone think that this book was going to be any different. There had to be a resolution between the love triangle. The resolution was well executed, and the reasoning was sound. This girl goes through so much, and experiences so much death, did everyone really think that they would all go dancing off to pick flowers at the sunset? No, this was a good read, even if it was a sad one. The narrator does a great job as always. If your looking for a pick me up book, this is not a good choice. But if you are looking for a well wrought tale of heartache, love, and perseverance give the hunger game trilogy a try
First off, I am a pretty big fan of Salvatore's works, I have always enjoyed his action packed writing style, and human interest essays in the Drizzt books. However, this is not his best work. Don't get me wrong it is still a good story, but it is not as involved and suspenseful as many of his other books. I still enjoyed the listen, but I found that it was hard to concentrate on the story, especially when doing other things at the moment (I multi-task a lot).
Overall the reader did a good job with the reading. But I look forward to the day when earlier Drizzt books are made into an audio format. If you are a fan of these books and the Drizzt series I recommend this book if you have a credit to spend. If you have not read any books featuring the character Drizzt, then stop by the book store or library to pick up the Dark elf Trilogy first.
Once upon a time I used to think I read star wars books and thought I was a sci fi fan. This was the first book that really launched me into the science fiction genre. I had no idea what I was missing. This book really is an excellent read and I suggest it to anyone. From here I went on to broaden my horizons and read the classics, and contemporary sci fi, but I still have a soft spot for this book.
Highly recommended for fans of military sci fi
