This book was well read. The story is set in Sweden and the reader has a Scandanavian accent. The story is quite good and seems fairly original.

When a serial murderer dubbed "The Spare Change Killer" by the Boston press surfaces after three decades in hiding, the police immediately seek out the cop, now retired, who headed the original task force: Phil Randall. As a sharp-eyed investigator and a doting parent, Phil calls on his daughter, Sunny, to help catch the criminal who eluded him so many years before.

    "Too many "saids""
    Overall

I have not read any of Parker's books before. I had only seen a few of the tv movies made from his books and I thought I would give him a try. I like his plots, but can't he figure out how to write dialogue without those incessant "saids" ? It is truly annoying even in the written form. Whatever "style" this is, I don't like it Kate Burton does a great job narrating other books, but I couldn't finish this one.

It's 2020, and an attempted cure for AIDS has mutated into a deadlier disease, V-CIDS. The United States, under martial law, has set up "quarantine centers" in the Southwest. Searching for his gay son, Jon, media mogul Michael Barris smuggles himself into one of the centers, only to discover that it and the other centers are actually extermination camps. With a strange assortment of allies, Barris precipitates an inmates' rebellion.

This audio rendition can't decide if it is an old time radio show or a reading of a book. The audio quality sounds as if it was done in someone's basement. At first the sound effects appear to be mistakes in the recording, but then you realize they are supposed to be there. They are added in odd places and though the author does a decent job reading, they should have left it to professionals. The story is decent, but I may have to read the book to see if I like the story or not.
