Dick Hall is a fantastic reader who is just right for this tongue in cheek fantasy. Landover is so much fun and is a delight to visit (unless the dragon might be shooting fire at you!) I was always sorry when I had to turn off the book for a while.
Ben Holiday is a great hero--smart, stubborn, and yet flawed like all good characters. I think his kingdom turned out to be less than the holiday experience (little pun intended) he was expecting, but he did keep up with it all the time.
Dick Hill was really good defining the characters with accents and sound effects. You almost felt you were there and not just listening.
All the emotional events were well done, and I enjoyed it all.
Continue on with the Black Unicorn, too. It's just as fun.
I love books written about WWII as well as a setting in England. I enjoyed the reader and her various characters--good job! This book recalls history and life for civilians in WWII, but also talks about the sacrifices many gave during this time. But most of all, it is simply a lovely romance.
Charles Reed although I did think she did a great job with Sarah, too.
As a long-time fan of D.E. Stevenson, this is a wonderful new way to enjoy her stories. Mrs. Tim is a great favorite of mine, and this tape is the second half of the American title, Mrs. Tim which involves her adventures in Scotland and where we meet Guffrey. Like many of novels, characters appear and reappear in her books. Many of the characters are here in this book and it is fun to listen to the story complete with the appropriate English accents.
The book is easy to listen to, and very entertaining all the way through.
Hilary Neville's performance is very good. I liked hearing the slight change for various characters in her voice, but it was always clear and easy to understand.
D.E. Stevenson's books are quite amusing, but also speak to the heart of who we are. We all have similar characters in our life and it makes it more interesting as we decide how we would have handled the situation as we learn what Mrs. Tim does in a situation.
I am certainly looking forward the rest of the D.E. Stevenson books that are available.
