"Great book for any Percy Jackson fan!"
Joshua Swanson does a great job of reading these books. He gets each character right. The story pulls you along and you don't really know what is going to happen, other than it isn't EXACTLY how you thought it would end up.
That the characters are trying to do their best with what they know and what they have. And things do turn out in unexpected ways because they are sincere, because they mean to help and not just win at all costs.
it was too long to listen to in one sitting, but I definitely was stuck in the story across the several days it took me to finish the book.
"Totally refreshing, with atypical good & bads guys"
It is hard to choose just one one favorite characters. The prince is the kind of person most people would want to be--positive in the face of impossible circumstances, someone who trusts people and believes in the innate goodness of Man, and who pulls out the best in nearly everyone he meets.
The Dula, Galadin, is an interesting person, the counter-point to the prince's positive outlook, but one of the more fun characters in the book.
The Yorn (the main priest in the book) is also one of my favorites, trying to manipulate others to his plans and trying to do the best to covert the people's of the new kingdom he is assigned to.
It was so interesting that I picked it back up a week later, and re-listened to it. I do like more audio books I get, but this one was unique, seeing the way the author wove the different characters and their games and purposes into an interesting story. There were some parts that moved slower than others, but it is definitely a story I would (and have) recommended to all my friends.
"Great story with totally unexpected twists to it."
Brandon Sanderson writes a story with a totally new twist. The main character is not crazy, but his hallucinations are! This would make an excellent movie. The story was short and sweet, fast paced and unexpected. If you like to be surprised, then you should listen to this.
When you find out why JC (a Navy Seal and one of the main character's hallucinations) was in the entire story!
Yes
Definitely a refreshing listen. Not like any other story I've read or heard.
