  • The Hungry Tide

Internationally best-selling author Amitav Ghosh, winner of the Pushcart Prize and numerous other prestigious accolades, pens a sweeping novel full of romantic adventure. Favorably compared to the masterworks of Joseph Conrad and V.S. Naipaul, The Hungry Tide is an atmospheric tale set in a world of wondrous sights...and terrible danger.

Elizabeth says: "One of the Best Audio Books I've Read"
    "A good story"
    Overall

I listened to this book after once attempting to read the hard cover version. As with the actual book, I was very bored early on and it wasn't easy to get into the story. But give it time. The author tells a great tale, and I learned a lot about the Sunderbans too. As an Indian American, I can relate a lot to the main character, Pia. A nice read.

John and Jenny were just beginning their life together. They were young and in love, with a perfect little house and not a care in the world. Then they brought home Marley, a wriggly yellow furball of a puppy. Life would never be the same.

Reade says: "One of the worst"
    "Great story - awful narration"
    Overall

This book was what you'd expect: a sweet story of a dog and his family. Like other reviewers, I had a hard time listening to the book since the narration was terribly done by the author. Parts that should have been funny sounded awkward and sometimes sarcastic. I highly recommend READING, rather than listening, to this book!
