Four US Navy SEALS departed one clear night in early July, 2005 for the mountainous Afghanistan-Pakistan border for a reconnaissance mission. Their task was to document the activity of an al Qaeda leader rumored to have a small army in a Taliban stronghold. Five days later, only one of those Navy SEALS made it out alive. This is the story of the only survivor of Operation Redwing, SEAL team leader Marcus Luttrell, and the extraordinary firefight that led to the largest loss of life in American Navy SEAL history.

Where does Lone Survivor rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

    In the top 10!

What did you like best about this story?

The way Marcus tied multiple events from different points in his life into the whole story. His ability to define the importance of teamwork and his character development of his story.

Have you listened to any of Kevin Collins’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, But I thoroughly enjoyed his performance and he too will be in my top 10 performers list along with Scott Brick and Dick Hill.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Neither. But I have recommended this book to many friends and colleagues.

    Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed hearing the story of an elite member of our Special Forces. I believe it is important for the USA to understand just what these men will do to protect and defend the country.
