This is one of my favorite books. I am so glad this new reading has been released with the exceptional narrating ability of Scott Brick. This listening experience is so much better than the listening torture of previous narrattors. I have listen to Mr. Brick's version twice already.

I can't for the life of me figure out what previous reviewers were looking for in this book. So, because the book is so short, I listened to the book again, and still didn't get it. It is almost as if they wanted to read/hear a longer book, though it was clear that it’s only three hours long. For me this book was well written, and well read, with lots of action and character development. Obviously the character development is on the thin side, but knowing that the story is so short you expect that, right. I mean you won't be able to fully flesh out a character in 94 pages, so why judge so harshly. I found the book engaging and engrossing, and I think that that is because I wasn't expecting the author to write the next Lord of the Rings.

I don't know what book the other reviewer(s) heard/read, but I found this book well worth a book credit. It certainly couldn't have been The Second Coming, by David H. Burton, because I found the plot compelling and gripping. When the book came to an end I became frustrated because I wanted more. Yes there are questions left unanswered at the end, hopefully they will be answered in the next book. Also, R. C. Bray is an amazing narrator who can really bring a story to life. Believe me this is a book that is well worth the money or credit. You can't lose with this book. Read it. You'll love it just like me. I'm trying to wait patiently for the next in the series.

Finely crafted and easy to get into.

Terry Pratchett's Johnny and the Dead or any of his YA novels. Like Terry Pratchett's books the author presents an easy prose that allows the read to become totally engrossed in the story.

He is a master of voice and tone. He gave every character just the right amount of vocal interest. He is awesome.

Here at Audible, I have to say it was a great story, but bad voice talent. It took me a week to get through a 6 hour book. I can't say how greatful I was when a new reading was released in conjunction with the forth coming movie. If you want to listen to this book buy the new version you will ultimintly have a better listening experience.

I hate getting a book that purports itself to be one thing (say Sci-Fi) and turns out to be something (though not entirely) else. Yes the story is set in a science fiction world, but it clearly is a raunchy M/M romance novel. If you are looking for a good Sci-Fi novel with a gay protagonist I’d advise that you look elsewhere.

I purchased both because they were so cheap, and totally regret that move. The writing is immature and forced. The m/m written so badly it's embarrassing to listen too. The narrator sounds like a bombastic radio announcer slumming-it for the money; the accent's so poorly done they sound cartoonish. Don't be a fool like me; save your money or credit for something better than this trite book/series.

I can’t understand why anyone would ever give this book a five star. I am totally in agreement with AerySun on this one. This has to be the worst book I have ever downloaded from Audible. I purchased the first and second book in the series because they were so cheap, and totally regret that move. The writing is immature and forced. The characters are totally unbelievable. The situations the protagonist finds himself in are never truly fleshed out so the reader has a good understanding of what is happening. I am ok with erotica, but come on in every scene. There is one scene were a friend takes Jason, the protagonist, home for dinner and to meet her cousin. After she introduces the cousin to Jason and the friend goes into the kitchen; Jason and the cousin start to make out on the couch. When she returns catching them in the act, just as they are undressing (yeah undressing!!), she is not bothered; no she starts to make out with her girlfriend. This all happens before the pizza arrives. I realize that this is erotica masquerading as paranormal fantasy, but really?!! The m/m is written so badly it’s embarrassing to listen too. This is a great murder/mystery. The author focused on the making of a great story as opposed to writing another gay romp through the sheets, which was a great relief since the publisher is Harlequin I had my reservations. The story is well paced and holds interest up until the last word is spoken. Ray Ramano does an excellent job with narration. Very satisfying; this book was well worth the money.
