I want to feel good when I complete a story & am a little harsh on depressing ones. There are a few sad ones that I love but not many.

The Iliad is one of the most enduring creations of Western Civilization and was originally written to be recited or chanted to the accompaniment of various instruments. Properly performed, this work today is just as meaningful, just as powerful and just as entertaining as it was in the ninth century B.C.,and it casts its spell upon modern listeners with the same raw intensity as it did upon the people of ancient times.

This is my favorite King novel so far. The great character development with a plot that you can follow. Leaves you hanging on for more when it switches directions and always brings you back. I just loved it.

I loved Slumdog Millionaire and I was really looking forward to this. I was slightly disappointed. This was entertaining and I liked it but it lacked depth in most characters and the plot was shaky.

Sneha Mathan was absolutely enchanting and the best part of the entire experience. I will be looking for more from her.

  • President Me: The America That's in My Head

In President Me, Carolla shares his vision for a different, better America free from big issues like big government down to small problems like hotel alarm clock placement. Running on an anti-narcissism platform, President Carolla calls for a return to the values of an earlier time when stew and casserole were on every dinner table and there were no “service dogs” on airplanes. President Me hits right at the heart of what makes our country really annoying, and offers a plan to make all of our lives, but mostly Adam’s, much better.

I know Carolla is a comedian and I know he is joking about some of the topics but he hits the nail directly on the head.
This book will not sit well with liberals and people who take themselves too seriously. He comes off as a racist and insensitive. Oh well! It is very funny and takes topics on directly in your face.
I am able to look past the fact that he is saying the things that some don't want to say and that he does point out things most want to brush under the rug and see the bigger point. He has made a very funny book that addresses real issues.
I will definitely be looking into more from Carolla.

I really hoped this would wrap up the series and now I see a presale for book 4. I don't see where this story can go. I don't know if I will be listening to book 4. I didn't like this one as much as the rest. I think the plot was a little weak and I didn't care for the ending but it was worth it. I feel like any others in this series might be a stretch.

I enjoyed the second installment. I was taken by the plot twists and Roth is a bit raw with this one. Well written again and a deeper storyline. Not as enjoyable as Divergent but a must to see what happens. I am concerned about the progress of the series. I am into book 3 and not very happy and I see 4 is available for pre-sale. I hope 3 picks up because the series has potential.

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

This book started out very well but faded half way through. I really thought I was in for a good one because the plot had so much potential but the writing just completely fell apart. Would just be repetitive to say it read like a script buy it does.
The narration was bad for my taste. His voice got on my nerves from the first minute through the entire book.
Hope they make a movie but wouldn't recommend the book

I enjoyed the story but I have to say I was a little disappointed. This came to me with a raving review so I took it on with very high expectations. It was very well written and I did enjoy the story quite a bit. I can't really explain it further than I just wanted a little more at the end. I absolutely loved the first half of the book and just liked the second half.

She's called Carmen. She's a good-looking young woman, she has a beautiful little girl...and she has married into the wrong family. They're called the Greers. They're a bitter and miserly clan, and they've made her life a living hell. Worse, her monster of a husband is soon due out of prison. So she needs protection, and she needs it now.

Lawyers can't help. Cops can't be trusted. So Reacher goes home with her to the lonely ranch where nothing is as it seems, and where evil swirls around them like dust in a storm. Within days, Carmen's husband is dead - and simmering secrets send Echo, Texas, up in flames.
