    Before the expedition of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark, the United States stopped at the Mississippi River. However, their journey opened up the wilderness borders to the Pacific Ocean. The key to the success of this 18 month journey was a young Indian girl - Sacajawea. Without her, the corps of discovery would have been doomed from the start.

    Beautiful story, told straight out, no embellishments, a realistic picture of an Indian girl's acceptance of the white men, of Lewis and Clark, of their journey and the hardships they encourtered. I certainly acquired a warm appreciation for all of their individual struggles, and the dignified way they had of handling any problems they encountered. There was no crying but lots of heart tugs and smiles.
