This was a captivating story about a young man who wanted to run in the olympics but ended up fighting for our country in Japan. The main part of the book was his, and other's, experiences in prisoner of war camps. The inhuman treatment they recieved deserves at the very least we can do, to be read. The aftereffects has to make all of us more understanding and appreciative of our servicemen/women coming home today. I think this is how our high school students should learn history, the human experience. Excellent. i will look for other books by this author and reader.

The reader really made this funny. I don't know if it would haave been this funny from a book.

I laughed from the beginning to the end of this book.

The history and behind the scene's problems, which are probably the same today, were enlightening. Some of the people mentioned, whose products we use today, were fun to recognize. The mystery of Holmes could have been interesting, but was hit upon here and there, a tease, but not enough to make the book exciting.

This book would be tedious to anyone who not interested in the history of the Chicago world Fair.

This book offers a cultural insight to a part of the word most of us know little about. I would say it is similar to 'The Kite Runner." The brillance of the writer is even more enhanced by the reader, who brings the characters to life.

The main character, Marian, because his feelings and frustrations were shown to be appropriate for whatever age he was at each part of the book. His doctor mother was also a favorite for her exceptional integrity.

If you are a Christian, whether you believe this or not, it is surely something you will want to read.

The American Sniper

Mr Scott was excellent, specifically when reading about the emotional turmoil the divers were experiencing. His voice was such a pleasure to listen to that I will want to read anything else that he has read.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about real people. It is a story about a man, and what it is like to be a sniper, before and after service, not about killings or espionage.

I absolutely loved this book. I read it, then bought the audible and listened to it. I have bought 3 copies to give to other people. When I just want something pleasant to read for a while, when I am out or between other books, I listen to parts of this again. Of course I liked the audio best because of the excellent emotional portrayal by the reader.

This is not a fun book. It tells us what we all want to know. What was her life for the 18 years she was missing? The nightmare was told by Jaycee herself and I could hear the confusion, anguish, dispair, and every other negative emotion anyone could ever experience in her voice. I was glad I listened to it instead of reading. I am glad I heard her story for her and will be wishing her well for the rest of my life.

I was a baby during this war and never knew much about it. Through the lives of the 6 men who were pictured raising the flag at Iwo Jima, I saw the unbelievable sacrifice all the sevicemen, all heroes, made for this country. Although it certainly was a documentary, it was a warm and personal story, captivatinig from beginning to end. Excellent! After this book I read Unbroken which was just as good and seemed to follow in sequence.
All highh school students should have to read these books.
