As usual, DeMille grabs your interest in the first paragraph and holds it till the last line. Always a different plot too. If I have any complaint it is that voiced by Robert Lewis Stephenson after reading Crime and Punishment; upon completion, I felt like I finally recovered from a near fatal illness. But, I couldn't put it down.

Note that my title is an attempt at sounding Scottish. This story not only takes place in Scotland but it is read by an actual Scot. Perhaps she has a Glasgow accent with a bit of "Cockney" English but a great and intriguing accent that grows on you as the book proceeds. Don't put this one down too soon, give it time to grow and you will love it. Interestingly, this is one of the only books written and read by a woman that I've ever really loved. It is NOT a "Chick Book" even if she is a single mother with the usual weepy moments about her son!

I didn't know Thomas Perry could write a boring book. I had to quit half way through when it skipped several chapters between part 1 & part 2 but I was ready to quit. Great premis that just didn't hold my attention like a Perry novel usually does. It talked about "feelings" so much I thought a woman wrote it. Also the reader, a lady, just could not make her voice sound like a man so she should have just read without "acting". Sorry Thomas, I've loved all your other books.
