"Unpleasant reader and not useful"
I didn't find this useful in my studies, largely because I couldn't stand the reader/speaker. She was so fake and cheerful that I couldn't bear to listen. Eww!
"Terrible"
If I could give this zero stars, I would. The writing is TERRIBLE, the plot is nonexistent, and the main character is just a Mary Sue. I couldn't even get halfway through it. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, even my worst enemy.
"Wonderful ideas, badly executed"
I'm keeping this for its ideas and the way they were expressed. But...yee gods, it is _badly_ written. Flat out. Listening to it instead of reading it makes it a little more bearable, so you can get to the philosophical bits. But...really, she probably should've just wrote it as philosophy and not SF.
"Couldn't finish it"
I found it to be very badly written. It's...smut, filled with plot and character inconsistencies. And really, really stupid characters.
I couldn't finish the first third. Not so much a vampire story but a bodice-ripping romance with some vampires thrown in.
Eugh!
"Pleasant experience"
This was my first time reading Dune. I would've vastly preferred a standard reading. The voices were confusing, and I could've sworn there were inconsistencies in who voiced whom in some scenes (whether it was the character or the narrator).
But for what it is, it's very nicely done.
"Loved"
Enjoyed it immensely. Didn't realize it was Abridged (which is why I rate it 4/5 -- HATE abridged)!!! Hope an unabridged version comes out.
Now I want to go back and actually read Jane Eyre. XD
"Interesting premise"
Very interesting premise. Unfortunately, the author overuses phrases...if I hear the word "whore" one more time, I think I'll scream. >.<
"Inspiring"
As a pre-med student, this was a treasure. Even for the general public, this text has some truly remarkable messages and information.
Some sections are a little number-heavy, but the core is well worth it.
"Imperfect Quality"
The book is wonderful as ever, and the reader does a good job with accents and the voices of characters of the opposite sex. ...but from time to time, there's an odd shift in the quality of the recording, making it clear where recording sessions began and ended. Not disturbing enough for me to recommend against it, however.
