With Death Angel, Fairstein takes listeners into the storied history of New York's Central Park as Assistant DA Alex Cooper and Detective Mike Chapman race to track down a serial killer before yet another young woman is found dead. Is the body found in the Ramble the first victim of a deranged psychopath, or are other missing women in years past whose remains have never been found connected to this savage attack? Is this enormous urban park a sanctuary in the middle of the city - or is it a hunting ground for a killer with a twisted mind?

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

The story travelled all OVER the place and I was constantly having to back up whenI realized I had simply quit listening. It could not hold my attention for any length of time.
Struggled to get through this, and I usually love Linda Fairstein's books.

What could Linda Fairstein have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Maybe if she had simply spent more time on one plot until jumping somewhere else as soon as she started to get my attention.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Barbara Rosenblat?

    ANYBODY.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

Nope. The idea might have been good....but by the time I got to the end, it just...well....ended.... I felt no build up and was left thinking, "wait...that's it?"

    Any additional comments?

Don't waste your time OR your money.

There are millions of stories in the city - some magical, some tragic, others terror-filled or triumphant. Jonah Kirk’s story is all of those things as he draws listeners into his life in the city as a young boy, introducing his indomitable grandfather, also a "piano man"; his single mother, a struggling singer; and the heroes, villains, and everyday saints and sinners who make up the fabric of the metropolis in which they live - and who will change the course of Jonah’s life forever. Welcome to The City, a place of evergreen dreams where enchantment and malice entwine.

Would you try another book from Dean Koontz and/or Korey Jackson?

Dean Koontz...absolutely. This was just not his style. I love his Odd Thomas books and the ones who aren't just disgustingly gory...but this was simply boring....kept waiting or it to take off.

Has The City turned you off from other books in this genre?

This is it's own genre so I wouldn't know

Which character – as performed by Korey Jackson – was your favorite?

    none

What character would you cut from The City?

    none

    Any additional comments?

Just wish he'd stick with his usual format. Total waste of a credit in my opinion....but I did finish it, waiting for it to "start". The story itself was sweet....and well pulled together...it's just not what I want to hear when I use a credit on Dean Koontz. VERY low key and not much action at all.

After working one of the worst mass killings in U.S. history, Scarpetta returns home to Cambridge, Massachusetts. Exhausted and ill, she's recovering at home when she receives an unsettling call. The body of a young woman has been discovered on the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's rugby field. The victim, a graduate student named Gail Shipman, is oddly draped in ivory linen and posed in a way that is too deliberate to be the killer's first strike.

What would have made Dust better?

As soon as this book grabbed your attention, there would be so much time spent on wordy descriptions that my mind would fog over, the subject would move on and i would realize that I was totally lost. Never had an audio book that I had to rewind to find my place as much as with this one. Predictable ending, no energy, ridiculous conflict between benton and Marino that suddenly was gone...or was it? I can't even remember.

What do you think your next listen will be?

Nothing by Patricia Cornwell. I have read all of her books and if this is the direction she's headed in, I'm going down another road.

What does Kate Reading bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    Her characterizations are good.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

    The narrator

    Any additional comments?

Hope people take my review to heart and listen to something else.

Justin and Libby Denbe have the kind of life you’d find in the pages of a glossy magazine: A beautiful 14-year-old daughter. A gorgeous brownstone on a tree-lined street in Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. A great marriage, admired by all. A perfect life. When investigator Tessa Leone arrives at the crime scene in the foyer of the Denbes’ home, she finds scuff marks on the floor and a million tiny pieces of bright green Taser confetti. The family appears to have been abducted.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

A different story. It was simply boring.....and very predictable.

What do you think your next listen will be?

    Not sure

Which character – as performed by Elisabeth Rodgers – was your favorite?

I guess Libby, the mother.....though the character was not very likable....

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

disappointment....and anger that I had used a credit for it.

    Any additional comments?

Have always enjoyed Lisa Gardner....but will have to put serious thought before I purchase another of her books after this one.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Totally predictable, no backbone to any of the characters and if I had not listened to so many books by Tess Gerritsen and this were my first one.....it would DEFINITELY be my last. I can't believe that she actually wrote this. Characters have no substance...plot is any that a sixth grader could write.....(and that's not being complimentary to sixth graders)
AWFUL! Would LOVE to have my money back on this one!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Flat, no emotion....might as well have been reading a cookbook.

What character would you cut from Keeper of the Bride?

The question should be which character would I KEEP

    Any additional comments?

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! I'M a huge fan of Gerritsen...but what a disappointment.
