  • Reefer Madness: Sex, Drugs, and Cheap Labor in the American Black Market

In Reefer Madness, the best-selling author of Fast Food Nation investigates America's black market and its far-reaching influence on our society through three of its mainstays - pot, porn, and illegal immigrants.

America is a country of stark inconsistencies. From our divergent policies to our hyprocritical personal behaivor. Eric offers thought-provoking criticism and common sense alternatives for our flawed logic. It is a great book for anyone who likes to form their own opinion and does not take an issue at face value. My only complaint is that the author/narrator can be a bit flat. In his defense, it is his material and he knows how it should be presented.

This book tackles our marijuana policy, illegal immigrant labor, and pornography. An alarming chapter mentions the staunch anti-drug politicians. It is suprising to hear how these politicians change their tune when their own children are incarcerated on drug offenses. It is my opinion that freedom loving patriots should join together and revoke the current political system, it's participants, and install a democracy.

Bill Bryson has been an enormously popular author both for his travel books and for his books on the English language. Now, this beloved comic genius turns his attention to science. Although he doesn't know anything about the subject (at first), he is eager to learn, and takes information that he gets from the world's leading experts and explains it to us in a way that makes it exciting and relevant.

Corby says: "Very informative, fun to listen to"

    Overall

Not a brief audiobook and despite it's virtual heft the story is clear and logically connected. The narrator delivers the goods flawlessly intact. The carefully injected dry wit and opinionated commentary makes the massive material a joy and quite palatable. I applaud such a massive undertaking and the inclusion of rarely known events, persons, and discoveries.

This I highly recommend as an alternative to reality television.

"This marvelous collection of talks, interviews, and essays offers a memorable sample of the wit, brilliance, and irreverence of the most celebrated physicist of our time," says Alan Guth, author of The Inflationary Universe. "The more one reads of Feynman, the more one falls in love with his refreshingly enthusiastic view of the world."

Charles Gousha says: "A variable compilation"

Great audiobook! Covers Richard's ideas, life, and speeches. The narrator does a dynamite job, his method of delivery perserves the spirit of "the man himself". Those without scientific backgrounds will have no trouble here. Only two instances reach outside of the realm of the layman, and they are fairly brief. I highly recommend this title. However, if live in a cave and/or believe in magical mystical powers; your world may be shattered. You were warned :)

To a degree both engrossing and alarming, the story of fast food is the story of postwar America. Fast Food Nation is a groundbreaking work of investigation and cultural history that may change the way America thinks about the way it eats.

Eric did a great job on this one. However his next book "Reefer Madness" was a bit stronger. A good inside look at american business and the changes from frontier days to today's ready-mix microwave society. Though some subjects don't segue well due to the sheer magnitude of his work, it still stands as a good ready for anyone interested in this area.

Synthesizing the work of thinkers including Freud, Diderot, Nietzsche, and Einstein, delineating the enticing strategies of characters throughout history, The Art of Seduction is a comprehensive guide to getting what we want - any way we can. Controversial but never dull, timeless and up-to-date, it's destined to be Greene's next best seller.

    Overall

Be advised that this approaches seduction from both a historical perspective, a psychological perspective, and a fair bit of "how to". Though some of the recommendations are questionable, the narrator's style is capitvating and elevates the material. Those looking for a "step-by-step" guide to seduction would do better buying another audiobook. Those looking for a relaxing, informative, and interesting listening experience have found the right book.

An enjoyable, yet short journey of political resistance read by the author. The only complaint is that it is too short. Otherwise a pleasure.

Perhaps no book in this generation has had a more profound impact on our intellectual and spiritual lives than The Road Less Traveled. With sales of more than 7 million copies in the United States and Canada, and translation into more than 23 languages, it has made publishing history, with more than 10 years on The New York Times best seller list.

John says: "Revised Edition Highly Recommended"
"The KING of all self-development books!"
    Overall

Originally written in 1978, but truth knows no time. I've read a number of similar books and I feel that this the greatest of them all. The author himself narratorates this title and put the same firm and lively tone used in his writing. It truely is an extrodinary book. If you seek a self-help book that doesn't always serves up advice with the sugar coating (like Dr. Phil) then this book is for you.
