Peter is a broken man. He appears to struggle to contain his grief as he holds a heartfelt TV interview about his loss. But all is not as it seems, beneath the grief lies a more sinister side, Peter is involved with a beautiful - and dangerous - younger woman and it soon transpires that he knows more about his family's disappearance than he is letting on.

Through years of success in Hollywood composing music for Oscar-winning films, Chris Lowndes always imagined he would come full circle, home to Yorkshire with his beloved wife, Laura. Now he’s back in the Yorkshire Dales, but Laura is dead, and Chris needs to make a new life for himself. The isolated house he buys sight unseen should give him the space to come to terms with his grief and the quiet to allow to him to work. Kilnsgate House turns out to be rather more than he expected, however.

    Story

Peter Robinson always writes a good story. This is a most unusual story. It's a crime story. It's a war story. It's a love story. The narrators are excellent. I became drawn into the story and it is only in the last 30 minutes you have all the facts. There are still some threads you need to decide for yourself. It is a very satisfying book. I listened once and listened again. I highly recommend this book.

Olivier is a young aristocrat, one of an endangered species born in France just after the Revolution. Parrot, the son of an itinerant English printer, wanted to be an artist but has ended up in middle age as a servant. When Olivier sets sail for the New World - ostensibly to study its prisons, but in reality to avoid yet another revolution - Parrot is sent with him, as spy, protector, foe and foil.

This is a marvellous story that flows between the two men seamlessly. The narration is very good and interest in the book maintained. The adventures of the Englishman and Frenchman are believable and goes from tragedy to comedy. This is one of Peter Careys' best.

This book continually gathers pace as you read it., it is engrossing. Harry, the lead detective, has his own personal problems and gets you onside in no time. This is the second book I have read By Jo Nesbo and I have enjoyed both of them.

Why we think it’s a great listen: Never before has an author’s narration of his fiction been so important to fully grasping the book’s impact and global implications. Taking us from Afghanistan in the final days of its monarchy to the present, The Kite Runner is the unforgettable story of the friendship between two boys growing up in Kabul. Their intertwined lives, and their fates, reflect the eventual tragedy of the world around them.

This book was extraordinary in the way the reader becomed totally immersed in the life and characters portrayed in the book. It is very powerful and has the ability to inform and educate the reader. I found the story mesmerising and immediately listened to it again.
