R is a young man with an existential crisis—he is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he has dreams. His ability to connect with the outside world is limited to a few grunted syllables, but his inner life is deep, full of wonder and longing. After experiencing a teenage boy’s memories while consuming his brain, R makes an unexpected choice that begins a tense, awkward, and strangely sweet relationship with the victim’s human girlfriend, Julie.

At first I thought, "oh god a stupid romance book with zombies?" Figured they'd have Fabio in tattered clothes or something...But I was was wrong. It's actually a fairly funny book based on zombies "healing". I've read a couple of books like this lately. Its refreshing that it shows people really are not dumb and as a species, humans do overcome the "impossible" I always hated that about apokolypse books where the military is useless and Humans are doomed because they are too stupid, frightened, and feeble to survive.
Now, they made this book into a movie and I hope they focus more on the humor that is sprinkled throughout this book. The author seemed to dab a bit in the humor and then abandon it for the realism...zombies are not real so stick with the humor. But I highly recommend this and you will be pleasantly surprised.

The Talbots are evacuating their home amidst a zombie apocalypse. Mankind is on the edge of extinction as a new dominant, mindless opponent scours the landscape in search of food, which just so happens to be noninfected humans. The Talbots have escaped Little Turtle, but to what end? On the run, they find themselves encountering a far vaster evil than the one that has already beset them. As they travel across the countryside they soon learn that there are more than just zombies to be fearful of....

Did Sean Runnette do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

I don't like his reading but I guess maybe he is growing on me. I thought he did pretty a good job. He just doesn't seem to fit the sardonic character he is reading for.

Ok, I did like the book and the story line. Even though the story line is picking up into a more fantasy style of zombie book where there are Higher forms of ancient undead, that was kind of the lead-in from book one anyway so you kindo of knew where they were going with it. It should not have been a bad surprise if you liked the first book. But what was my issue with the book well...
****BIGTIME RANT*****How can zombie's not freeze in -10 degree weather? I mean serious?!?!! Warm blooded, out door, animals FREEZE in that temperature if they do not find shelter. Going north should be the safest place on earth for them during the winter time. The author totatally messed up the time frame. Maybe have them cuaght off guard in the spring or something, but being attacked in one of the coldest part of the country at the harshest part of the winter season? C'mon dude you really need research at least a tiny bit.
For instance, I don't know anything about guns so when i read the books i take it for granted that the author has researched a little to get his facts straight about how the guns work, type, and range, etc...But not having a zombie freeze in -10 degree weather makes me feel the author didn't research crap and maybe he just made up the guns and they don't exist and such. Well Thats my rant but i did like the story line. But dude, DO SOME RESEARCH!!!

Earth's final colonizing expedition was meant to build a new civilization, on a planet so distant even the Gbaba might never find it, and without the high-tech infrastructure whose emissions might betray its location.

This book was just boring. It started out really well and interesting but went no-where. Very long and drawnout plbots that were basically thwarted very quickly. a big let down. I heard the rest ofthe series was exactly the same but no cool begining just lame attempt at re-writing Merlin stories...

And that’s both a good and a bad thing. It’s good because he’s a Baltimore detective who has just been secretly recruited by the government to lead a new task force created to deal with the problems that Homeland Security can’t handle....

The Author does a great job mixing in little tidbids of his/my favorite quotes, characters of other novels. He actually mixed in some funny quips about Hitchhickers guide to the galaxy. He includes these in most of his bokks, hhis little pop culture references are great.
In this book he does a good job keeping things straight so you don't get lost with the mass of clones in the story. Some people seem to have a couple hundred clones of themselves in the city/planatoid. very twisty plot and hard to figure out who dunnit. Great writing style with some snarky comedy referenced in. Must read!!!

Stealth. Gorgon. Regenerator. Cerberus. Zzzap. The Mighty Dragon. They were heroes. Vigilantes. Crusaders for justice, using their superhuman abilites to make Los Angeles a better place. Then the plague of living death spread around the globe. Despite the best efforts of the superheroes, the police, and the military, the hungry corpses rose up and overwhelmed the country. The population was decimated, heroes fell, and the city of angels was left a desolate zombie wasteland like so many others.

Wow! Super Heroes in the Zombie apocalypse!!! This series does not disapoint. Great backround stories on all the characters with a nice evel flow of the story. The Spuers have their hands full trying to save whats left of humanity. Good humor, suspense, zombies, Super heroes, I mean come on how can you not like this book!!!
I like the fact that the author calculates the zombie horde.. killing 1000 zombies per day means it would take about 23 years to kill the aproximately 9 million zombies in Los Angeles County alone...seems an impossible task even for super heroes...

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning? In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by 12 outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of 12 and 18 to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

If you watched the movie, YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK. It completely makes sense where the movie kinda sucked and had no real back story. The Author does a fantastic job with character background, story line, and a nice touch of sci-fy suspense.
The story follows one character and how she copes with her surroundings. There are some good funny spots as she has to deal with a drunk trainer on top of her impending doom. The author seems to keep it real as the main Character Katness definately has flaws and uses them to enhance a more realistic view of the situation. However at times the teenage attitude of Katness does get annoying I believe this is to help you get by the "why doesn't she just do this.." part of the story. Very entertaining I couldn't wait to get to book 2 of the series

This second book in the Hunger games tilogy did not disappoint!!! I like it better than the first. Just when you thought it couldn't get worse, it did. Just when you thought all was lost something new pops up and adds an interesting twist.
The humor was kept throughout this book as in the first. Funny when it needed to be and suspensfull as well. This book follows Katness again and her teenage issues as she tries to cope with a mundane love triangle, more imbending doom and a slight glint of hope, very slight...
More character back stories and more action in the games makes this book a great compliment to the first

Very good book. Love the backgrounds of the sith and Jedi. easy to follow, nice timeline and very intriguing. My only problem with this and many of the Star Wars books is that they seem to try to mimmick George Lucas writing style. Why don't i like this, because the more powerful the character, the dumber and more anti-climatic they die/perish...

Would you ever listen to anything by Suzanne Collins again?

Im not convinced that Susan Collins even wrote this garbage! None of the characters even act the same as they did in the previous books. Its like the author had a whole new set of characters but with the same names...

    Any additional comments?

BLAH!!! this book was Horrible. If you want destroy a great series this is how you do it. I think halfway through the book the Author got confused and mixed up and forgot what she was writing about. it is obvious she had no idea how to end the book and towards the end you as the reader get lost and there seems to be no more timeline.
None of the characters act like they did previously in any of the books. Makes you wonder if Susan Collins really wrote this?
I had such high hopes and was so anxious to read this book but was ultimately disappointed. Its doubtful Collins even wrote this book. The characters didnt make sense anymore, timeline was difficult to follow at best and the plot was confusing. If you want to be completely dissapointed by all means read this drab horrid mockery of a good series. blah!

Humours book based on a supervillian's rise to the top. If you've watched the movie Megamind you can relate this book to what Megamind was going through. Lots of humor, super hero battles, revenge plotting and evil genius abound! Definately worth the read if you are into the not-so super hero genre. No graphic deaths or mayhem, just good clean family oriented evil :)
