  • Breath of Scandal

    • UNABRIDGED (15 hrs and 52 mins)
    • By Sandra Brown
    • Narrated By Dick Hill
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

On a rainy Southern night, Jade Sperry endured a young woman's worst nightmare at the hands of three local hell-raisers. Robbed of her youthful ideals and at the center of scandal and tragedy, Jade ran as far and as fast as she could. But she never forgot the sleepy "company town" where every man, woman, and child was dependent on one wealthy family.

    "Breath of Scandal"

Good story, interesting characters & plot. Liked the way she got her revenge at the end. Typical Sandar Brown novel. I wish the female lead(s) were narrated by a female. It becomes annoying to hear a male narration as squeaky, high pitched, breathless and over compensated throughout the entire story.

  • Saving Ceecee Honeycutt

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 4 mins)
    • By Beth Hoffman
    • Narrated By Jenna Lamia
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Laugh-out-loud funny and deeply touching, Beth Hoffman's sparkling debut is, as Kristin Hannah says, "packed full of Southern charm, strong women, wacky humor, and good old-fashioned heart." It is a novel that explores the indomitable strengths of female friendship and gives us the story of a young girl who loses one mother and finds many others.

  • The Help

    • UNABRIDGED (18 hrs and 19 mins)
    • By Kathryn Stockett
    • Narrated By Jenna Lamia, Bahni Turpin, Octavia Spencer, and others

Why we think it’s a great listen: The most celebrated performance in all of Audible’s history, The Help has nearly 2,000 5-star reviews from your fellow listeners. We hear the print book’s not bad, either. In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women - mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends - view one another.

Jan says: "What a great surprise!"
    "The Help"

  • The Cutting

    • UNABRIDGED (10 hrs and 43 mins)
    • By James Hayman
    • Narrated By Jonathan Davis

Detective Sergeant Michael McCabe moved from New York City to Portland, Maine, to escape a dark past: both the ex-wife who'd left him for an investment banker, and the tragic death of his brother, a hero cop gone bad. He sought to raise his young daughter away from the violence of the big city . . . so he's unprepared for the horrific killer he discovers, whose bloody trail may lead to Portland's social elite.

Eileen says: "Can't wait for more from this author!"
    "The Cutting"

thought this was the best I've ordered to date from Audible. Narration and story were very good. Plot was predictable but characters (especially lead) and narration were interesting and very enjoyable. Hope there is more to come from Hayman.

  • Cover of Night

    • UNABRIDGED (11 hrs and 14 mins)
    • By Linda Howard
    • Narrated By Joyce Bean, Dick Hill
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

In the charming rural town of Trail Stop, Idaho, accessible to the outside world by only a single road, young widow Cate Nightingale lives peacefully with her four-year-old twin boys, running a bed-and-breakfast. But one day, Cate is shocked when armed men storm the house, demanding the mystery man's belongings.

    Dominique says: "A surprise"
    "Cover of the Night"

Huge Linda Howard fan for years. Think I've read everyone of her novels. Wasn't too impressed with this one. Thought the story was good, characters interesting, but started losing interest 1/2 way through. The "bad guys" were almost laughable at their ineptness and then the story became pretty predictable. Not one of her best.

  • The Last Child

    • UNABRIDGED (14 hrs and 44 mins)
    • By John Hart
    • Narrated By Scott Sowers
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

his most powerful and intricately-plotted novel yet. Thirteen year-old Johnny Merrimon had the perfect life: happy parents and a twin sister that meant the world to him. But Alyssa went missing a year ago, stolen off the side of a lonely street with only one witness to the crime. His family shattered, his sister presumed dead, Johnny risks everything to explore the dark side of his hometown in a last, desperate search.

    Christine says: "Stick With It!"
    "The Last Child"

Great story - Just wish the narration for female characters could be done by a female. It's annoying to hear a deep baritone voice trying to sound like a girl or woman. Highly recommend the story though. Was plausible and interesting from start to finish.

  • Afraid

    • UNABRIDGED (9 hrs and 40 mins)
    • By Jack Kilborn
    • Narrated By Phil Gigante

Welcome to Safe Haven, Wisconsin. Miles from everything, with one road in and out, this peaceful town has never needed a full-time police force. Until now.... A helicopter has crashed near Safe Haven and unleashed something horrifying. Now this merciless force is about to do what it does best. Isolate. Terrorize. Annihilate. As residents begin dying in a storm of gory violence, Safe Haven's only chance for survival will rest with an aging county sheriff, a firefighter, and a single mom.

coreybeth says: "Run, catch, torture, repeat puhleeezz"

Story was pretty thrilling but a little far fetched. Characters a little to macho and hard to believe. Action and fighting was like a Bruce Willis "Die Hard" movie. Was definitely gruesome in parts.

  • Promise Not to Tell

    • UNABRIDGED (7 hrs and 56 mins)
    • By Jennifer McMahon
    • Narrated By Celeste Ciulla
    • Whispersync for Voice-ready

Kate Cypher is revisiting her childhood home to care for her Alzheimer's-afflicted mother. She's avoided the place for years, fearful of childhood memories of her friend Del - dubbed Potato Girl by cruel classmates - whose murder 30 years prior was never solved. On the night Kate arrives, an eerily similar murder occurs, forcing Kate to confront her haunting memories.

Darja says: "another mystical thriller about little girls"
    "PROMISE NOT TO TELL (Unabridged)"

Thought the story and narration was good. Held my interest while I was walking and that was all I was hoping for. New to the book club and think this was a good first choice.
