This is a very good book. It was a little slow at times but the overall story is fantastic. But I do have to say even though I thoroughly enjoyed this book this is one of the few cases where the movie is better. The movie is one of my all time favorites even though im not usually a huge fan of dramatic love stories there is just something special about this story. So no matter which medium you prefer this is classic story of love, loss, and redemption that transcends life and death.

It has been 40 years since the publication of this classic science-fiction novel that changed the way we look at the stars and ourselves. From the savannas of Africa at the dawn of mankind to the rings of Saturn as man adventures to the outer rim of our solar system, 2001: A Space Odyssey is a journey unlike any other.

Sorry for being so vulgar but that movie was the worst experience of my entire life. But the book was great, I had never seen the movie before and I had always heard it was a classic so when I found the book I thought it would be good to listen to it and then check out the film. Well the book was very good, it kept my attention the whole time and was very interesting. The movie on the other hand was excruciatingly slow, and explained nothing. So please don't hold that pitiful excuse for cinematic greatness against the book it's like night and day.

Why we think it’s a great listen: How do you one-up a book that’s already a global literary phenomenon? Hire Simon Vance to (flawlessly) interpret the loves, lives, and murders of Sweden’s cold and secret-filled world. A spellbinding amalgam of murder mystery, family saga, love story, and financial intrigue. It's about the disappearance 40 years ago of Harriet Vanger, a young scion of one of the wealthiest families in Sweden.

    Overall

This is one of the worst books I've listened to. Even the brutal rape scenes were too boring to be offensive.I just don't understand what the big hype is about. And it's not just because its long and slow, I've liked and loved plenty of long and, or slow paced books but for some reason I couldn't get into it. I just had no interest in the characters or the story. I didn't even care who the killer was. I don't know maybe it was just me and not the book, because most of the other reviewers loved it, but thats just the way I feel about this particular audio presentation.
