I was an avid reader of books before my work took most of my time so now I listen to Audible books when I'm exercising or walking my dog. I like mystery and thriller novels, particularly good serial killer novels. I'm a writer and a psychotherapist.

When Marissa is found brutally murdered, with her young daughter, Haley, resting her head on her mother's bloody breast, she sends the idyllic California town of Oak Knoll into a tailspin. Already on edge with the upcoming trial of the See- No-Evil killer, residents are shocked by reports of the crime scene, which might not have been discovered for days had it not been for a chilling 911 call: a small child's voice saying, "My daddy hurt my mommy."

Lisa Jackson's novels of romance and suspense race up the best-seller charts. In Left to Die, the Pinewood County Sheriff 's Department is on the trail of a cold-blooded killer who acts as a savior to women stranded during terrible mountain snowstorms before stripping them of their dignity and leaving them to die, a victim of the elements. But the killer's latest victim managed to escape, leading some to believe there may now be an imposter on the loose.

I had to slow the recorder down in order to listen to the book at all. Even slowing it down didn't change the voice, which was a terrible narration voice and didn't change between characters. The good news is that the story is so intriguing and there's so much suspense that I listened to the entire book in spite of the narrator. I would have given this book a five based on the story, how tightly written it is with no drag time, except for the narrator and that the book leave the listener dangling, which I didn't appreciate. I had to come back to Audible to download the second book in this series just to find out what happens.

This is the first book I've listened to in a long time where the narration is flawless! For a change I wasn't distracted either by trying to figure out whom was saying what or just being annoyed at the narrator's interpretation of a voice. Dick Hill is a very good narrator but his readings of women's voices make me crazy. They're all the same and that voice makes every woman sound a bit daft to say the least.
This book kept my attention the entire time and is the kind of book that made me find things to do so I could listen to it.

Or I wouldn't have been able to listen to the narrator. His voice was fine but he was either pausing to sip drinks of water or turning pages or doing something that made an intrusive sound throughout the book every twenty or so seconds and it was almost enough to make me return the book.
However, I became so engrossed in the story that I actually forgot about the narrator from time to time and didn't want to stop listening in spite of whatever the narrator was doing.
I couldn't figure out who the bad guys were until the very end and even then I didn't figure it out. There were twists and turns frequently enough that, just about the time I thought I had it figured out, something different would happen.
It's well worth the credit. Dan Brown doesn't disappoint.

I've loved every one of his novels even though I pretty know what the basic plot is going to be. This one just didn't hold up like the others. I was very disappointed. It went on too long and didn't have the kind of suspense I'm used to with this author.

It's a good story with plenty of twists and I certainly wouldn't downgrade it to a three but nothing gets developed enough to make this a five star, not the characters, the story, or the ending, which just ends when there are a lot more things that could be answered instead of left hanging. What happens to the good guy for instance and his relationship with the girl? It's a longer story condensed into a fairly long story. Also, the bad guy deserves a lot more bad instead of the abrupt ending.

The killer's methods are terrifying. He stalks the basements and underground passageways of New York City. He tattoos his victims' flesh with cryptic messages, using a tattoo gun loaded with poison, resulting in an agonizing, painful death. When a connection is made to the Bone Collector - the serial killer who terrorized New York more than a decade ago - Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs are immediately drawn into the case.

Number-one New York Times best-selling author Harlan Coben set huge sales records with last year’s Six Years - and he’s poised to do it again in his next breathtaking stand-alone thriller. Harlan Coben, author of six consecutive instant number-one New York Times best sellers and a total of 24 award-winning, best-selling, and internationally acclaimed novels, returns with another ripped-from-real-life thriller full of impossibly high emotional stakes and the real-to-life characters for which he has become famous.

I haven't been listening to much of Coben because I listened to a couple of disappointing books but he hit a home run with this one.
    I highly recommend it!

description and not enough action. It's worth listening to but then again, someone needs to teach Dick Hill how to read women's parts so they don't all sound like lispy air heads, especially when White's female characters are anything but. The book is interesting. It's worth purchasing but I've listened to other authors that hold my attention better.
