This book will keep your attention and have you listening at time when you should be getting something done. I couldn't turn it off after my commute and just kept listening.
For sure I would buy a book narrated by Scott Brick but even he couldn't pull this dog into the land of the listener. I have listened to books by Lincoln Child before and enjoyed them. After three hours of listening I realized the book wasn't ever going to get any better. It was full of description apropos of nothing and, if there was a story line, it hadn't emerged after three hours of listening.
Save your points and do not buy this book!
Scott Brick was fine. I didn't have a problem with the narration. He tried but the book was too awful.
The suspense was great and I couldn't predict what was going to happen next.
I prefer reading books but don't have time. David Colacci did what good narrators do best and this is he read so well I didn't get focused on his voice or what I didn't like about his narration. I'll add him to my list of acceptable narrators.
Kept me listening when I should have been doing other things.
I don't know what happened at the end but it seemed like the writers just got tired of writing so they ended the book. The entire rest of the book was well written and highly suspenseful. I would recommend it even with the ending. It's a good book. I'll listen to more Preston and Child. This was the first time I've listened to a book by them.
Unless you are just starved for blow by blow descriptions of cutting, alcoholism, drug use, sex, none of which contribute to the story line. Cutting can be but not in such detail and repeated over and over again throughout the book.
I kept listening to the book because I wanted to know who committed the murders. It was annoying and stupid. The book could be condensed down to a chapter and you'd have the essential book.
Don't waste a point on this one. I'm not hard to please but this one just made me mad that I went against my better judgement to begin with and purchased it. When I read the description I had reservations. I should have trusted my instinct.
90% of the story doesn't contribute to the story.
Ann Marie Lee is a good reader. I wouldn't have a problem listening to another performance by her again.
Not a dull moment in this novel. Sometimes Steven White leaves me wishing he'd just get on with the story but not this time. I finished listening to it in record time because I listened every chance I got. The suspense is great and there are lots of unexpected twists and turns.
That the intensity kept up and didn't sag somewhere in the beginning, middle or end.
He allows me to focus on the story instead of his reading, that's why I look for books he's reading.
This book just seemed like a cookie cutter Jack Reacher novel. Yes, he has sex with the girl, surprise, yes, he's a tough guy, what a shock, but the plot falls far short of the Jack Reacher novel just before it in the Reacher series. It felt like Lee Child wanted a vacation from Jack Reacher so he just threw in all of the elements and gave it to his publisher. There's nothing compelling about the novel. I finished it because I paid for it and I kept hoping something exciting would happen. It didn't.
Create some suspense and intrigue that isn't so predicatable.
I love Dick Hill's performances, this one included.
How about just throw the book away and move on to the next one.
Jack Reacher. He didn't get into the inevitable seduction of whatever woman becomes his partner for the novel until after the groundwork was laid for good suspense and "He said nothing" wasn't used a million times.
The best Jack Reacher novel so far!
He's great. I wish he could read all of the books Ilisten to.
Follow the money.
I never knew who did what to whom because what seemed like the right answer never was. It kept me listening even when I should have been doing other things. I liked the narrator as well. This is the kind of book I hope to get when I use my credits.
Yes, he was very good in this book but I always enjoy him as a narrator. I think I'm as attached to certain narrators as I am to certain authors. Dick Hill is one I really enjoy.
Kept me listening, suspense all the way to the end!
Don't know, didn't read the print version.
How I was kept on edge with all of the twists and turns. Just about the time I figured out who the bad guy was the story turned and it looked like someone else was the bad guy. It was wonderfully complicated but very easy to follow. I really enjoyed this book.
I liked that I could differentiate between the characters and that he read very crisply without any annoying habits like sucking in a breath.
Kept me on edge.
I wish I could find more books like this one. It so hit and miss when I buy audio books.
Someone who has insomnia.
Less description and more action. At the end there is action but it was a chore to get there. I made myself finish it because I kept thinking it was going to get better. It didn't.
Probably not. Often I couldn't tell one character from the other as the narrator used the same voice for practically everyone. If it had been a paper book I would have seen who was talking but an audio book needs to have something to distinguish who is saying what. I kept getting lost and finally just zoned out.
About fifty percent of the description.
I know I can return books I don't want to do it all of the time. I should do it whenever a book is this difficult to track and this boring.
I only listen to audio books so I wouldn't know.
They are all my favorite characters. It's the cast of characters that make the novels so interesting, many of them are regulars.
I haven't listened to him before. I was just happy that he didn't annoy me.
Yes, it was. It was a terrific book and I didn't want it to end.
This is Jeffrey Deaver at his best with an excellent narrator. There are so many turns and twists that you can't figure out and don't see coming that I began to wonder how Jeffrey Deaver could even have such a complex imagination. I'm sorry that his series isn't narrated all by the same person. I don't like going from one narrator to another when I'm listening to a series.
