I nearly gave up on this book. Over 40 minutes into it before the author stopped speculating and inventing heresay. Reminded me of the awful Babe Ruth movie "The Babe" with John Goodman. Lots of information, but overall disappointing for a baseball nut who understands that Baseball is a game re-invented because of Babe Ruth and that no other figure in its history has been as significant.

gosh. I would normally recommend that everyone read everything by David McCullough and listen to nearly everything read by Edward Herrmann. So how could this go wrong? But after several weeks trying, I just couldn't maintain any interest in this book and gave up on it. dang.

I always enjoy the narration of David McCullough. Clearly one of the greatest ever.

disappointment. Couldn't maintain any interest in the various biographies of prominent Americans who spent time in Paris in the 19th century.

I wish I didn't have to give a low rating to a book by David McCullough. I heartily recommend everything else he has written.

The Toyota Way by Jeffrey Liker is an easy listen that skips along quickly with the always-pleasant narration by Grover Gardner. After listening, I am now seeking a hard copy of the book so I can highlight certain areas and re-read a little more slowly. Although this book is quite old for a business book, it is still relevant and useful today.

I was assigned this book at work or else I would have abandoned it in the first few minutes. No research, no evidence, just a few ideas that happy employees may be more productive. Well, duh. The author doesn't seem to have much experience in the business world. But it does inspire me to think I too could pound out a business book in a weekend. I recommend that you just read one-page book summaries of this rather than spend nearly 5 hours to learn the 3 points.

Best selling author, high ratings, many books, OK, I thought I'd give this author a chance. Unrealistic, incomplete, unbelievable. I was anxious to get through it to find out how silly the ending would be. When the book ended and then offered some 'bonus' material, I thought "Oh, crap, do I have to listen to more of this?" I'd recommend this for people who like Rambo and Jean-Claude Van Damme movies and similar nonsense.

I agree with another reviewer that the psychobabble stuff just bogs this down. Half of the book is spent agonizing with an electronic shrink over what turns out to be a simple question of responsibility. I spent most of the book wondering if any of it was necessary to the story and decided that it could be abridged to about 1 minute and make for a much better story.

450 minutes of book that could have been 45 minutes and not lost a thing.
If there's an abridged version, I'd suggest you go with that instead.
