After a slow summer of chasing low-level skips for her cousin Vinnie's bail bonds agency, Stephanie Plum finally lands an assignment that could put her checkbook back in the black. Geoffrey Cubbin, facing trial for embezzling millions from Trenton's premier assisted-living facility, has mysteriously vanished from the hospital after an emergency appendectomy. Now it's on Stephanie to track down the con man. Unfortunately, Cubbin has disappeared without a trace, a witness, or his money-hungry wife. Rumors are stirring that he must have had help with the daring escape...or that maybe he never made it out of his room alive.

Janet's recent Stephanie Plum books have been quite contrived recently. And not in a good way. This book was different. I really enjoyed this book and the multiple plots seemed to work & the flow was natural.

I would recommend this book. Lorelei King, as always, does great characters. She gets an A+.

For LAPD homicide cop Harry Bosch - hero, maverick, nighthawk - the body in the drainpipe at Mulholland Dam is more than another anonymous statistic. This one is personal. The dead man, Billy Meadows, was a fellow Vietnam "tunnel rat" who fought side by side with him in a nightmare underground war that brought them to the depths of hell.

I really enjoyed this book. It was well written & perfectly paced. The reader was exceptional. I am sorry to see it end, but will definitely listen to another book by this author and by this reader.

The only complaint I have is that it gave away the results from an earlier book, so I probably won't listen to that one.

There's no police training stronger than a cop's instinct. Faith Mitchell's mother isn't answering her phone. Her front door is open. There's a bloodstain above the knob. Her infant daughter is hidden in a shed behind the house. All that the Georgia Bureau of Investigations taught Faith Mitchell goes out the window when she charges into her mother's house, gun drawn. She sees a man dead in the laundry room. She sees a hostage situation in the bedroom. What she doesn't see is her mother.

From the first word spoken this book flowed perfectly. The reader was great, the story was great and, even though there were multiple storylines, you were never confused. Plus the ending was unexpected. I would highly recommend this book.

When Andie meets the two children, she realizes the situation is much worse than she feared. In this rollicking tale, best-selling author Dixie Cash - author of My Heart May Be Broken but My Hair Still Looks Great - sets Salt Lick's own sleuthing cosmetologists on a collision course with the Big Apple. On an all-expenses-paid trip to a New York PI convention, the Texas Tornadoes hope to do some serious shopping. But that's before they stumble across a serial killer.

This might have been a fun story but the Texas drawl and the constant babbling just drove me crazy. Excuse me, but babbling through a murder they could have stopped - seriously. And the reader drove me crazy. There were 2 female Texans; one was ok to listen to and the other - OUCH. I think that was the worst part.

I got to the point in this book when I just yelled, die someone, die. Too much backstory, present story, fluff. Once someone died, it wasn't too bad. I don't know if this will tempt me to listen to other books in this series. Not bad, not great. Good thing it was short.
