Janet's recent Stephanie Plum books have been quite contrived recently. And not in a good way. This book was different. I really enjoyed this book and the multiple plots seemed to work & the flow was natural.
I would recommend this book. Lorelei King, as always, does great characters. She gets an A+.
In the beginning, with the down home country accents & all the family stuff, I did not think I could listen to it. But the reader made the accent just right & the story moved along quite well. I will say I enjoyed the story. Not great literature, but pleasant to listen to.
I thought the reader did an excellent job and I will listen to her again.
This was the most predictable story I have ever listened to & I have listened to a lot. He's handsome, she's beautiful, she has a secret, so does he. They are attracted to each other. I imagine they have sex, but I could not listen to one more second of this dribble. I tried to listened to this double time as I did one other book because I sort of wanted to see how it ended & I was almost done. When I checked out how much more there was in this book & I was about 1/3 done, I knew double time wouldn't work.
Audio books is passive reading. I don't have to do anything special to actually listen except get in my car. I still could not listen to another second. As to the ending, what do you bet that they get together, fall in love, and share their really boring secrets.
This is the most negative review I've ever written & I wrote a review on another book starting with "was the author paid by the word" and this book is not even that good.
As to the reader, she was ok. I gave her 2 stars because it may have been the material, but her reading of the male characters was not very good. But it wasn't her fault this book was so bad.
I've read or listened to all the Stephanie Plum books & the characters are wonderful. I just think the stories are a little tired and I'm getting a little bored listening to them. I do love Janet's writing style and character development, but I think I'll try some of her other books. For quite a while these books have left me wanting.
But to anyone new to Janet Evanovich, I say - start the journey. It has been a wonderful series. Laugh out loud. Just time to end.
This book was very erotic with enough story to make it interesting. I would definitely recommend this book. I also thought the reader did an excellent job.
This book was about weight, love, family, insecurity and so much more. The characters were well written and developed through this story. I really cared about them. This is a book I will listen to again.
And let's not forget the narrator. One of the best I've heard. Her reading was true to the characters.
This is a GOOD book.
I enjoy light mystery, romance. This book was just perfect. Fun, mystery, romance, and a great narrator. Plan on listening to more of her books & more with this narrator.
There is not enough story for a whole book. Maybe if this was seriously abridged (like 3 hours of story total) it would have been ok, but it just felt like the author was paid by the word. This is not an author I would listen to again.
Great book for this genre. Loved the characters and their interactions. Just wish it hadn't ended.
Will definitely listen to other books by this author.
I'm only 1/2 way through, yet I am compelled to write this review. The first 2 minutes did not start well, but then, I am now consumed with this book. This is a book about the characters with a mystery to solve. I am enjoying each word, each sentence, each page. This is a book where the journey is as important as the mystery.
I will definitely be ordering more books by this author and by this narrater.
I really enjoyed this book. It was well written & perfectly paced. The reader was exceptional. I am sorry to see it end, but will definitely listen to another book by this author and by this reader.
The only complaint I have is that it gave away the results from an earlier book, so I probably won't listen to that one.
