Dani "Mega" O’Malley plays by her own set of rules - and in a world overrun by Dark Fae, her biggest rule is: Do what it takes to survive. Possessing rare talents and the all-powerful Sword of Light, Dani is more than equipped for the task. In fact, she’s one of the few humans who can defend themselves against the Unseelie. I initially wasn't planning on purchasing this book as Dani wasn't my favorite from the Fever series. I am so glad I did buy it! In this book, Dani is much more well rounded as a heroine and there is the bonus of learning more about some of the secondary characters from the Fever series that I wondered about after the last book. I am LOVING that there is a continuation of Christian's story. Looking forward to the next two books!

When we last left the mighty wizard detective Harry Dresden, he wasn't doing well. In fact, he had been murdered by an unknown assassin. But being dead doesn't stop him when his friends are in danger. Except now he has nobody, and no magic to help him. And there are also several dark spirits roaming the Chicago shadows who owe Harry some payback of their own. To save his friends-and his own soul-Harry will have to pull off the ultimate trick without any magic...

    Lifelong Reader says: "Beyond disappointed"
"Don't let the change in narrator put you off"
    Overall

While I think we can all agree that the change in narrator is disappointing and boardering on upsetting, ultimately this is a GREAT BOOK. Most Dresden fans have come to see James Marsters AS Harry Dresden, myself included, so it took me until the second part of the book to get past the narrator change. Then it hit me what a pivital point this story is to Harry's journey. Don't let the change put you off because this story is amazing. As always Jim Butcher has hit another one out of the ball park. In the end, I almost think it is okay that the narrator is different BUT I would also be absolutely devastated if they didn't bring James back for the rest of the series.
